Business Analyst – CoMETS

Customized Energy Solutions is seeking a full-time IT Business Analyst with 3+ years of experience to join our product team. This role involves contributing to the next generation of technology and innovation within the energy storage and trading sector. This role will utilize analytical, design, and development skills to develop new functionality, custom solutions and interfaces on top of CES’ CoMETS software platform.

Key Responsibilities:

Requirement Elicitation and Translation:

• Engage in business requirement sessions to evaluate and understand business objectives and goals.
• Collaborate with technical teams to translate business needs into technical requirements.
• Break down requirements into detailed, accurate, and consumable user stories for development within an agile scrum framework.

Backlog Management:

• Participate in backlog refinement sessions with the software development team.
• Clarify and answer questions to help the team accurately estimate and story point the delivery effort.

Validation, Testing and Issue Analysis

• Ideate and conduct preliminary validation of solutions.
• Design functional and integration test plans and scenarios.
• Perform testing activities and assist in end-to-end User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

Problem Solving and Documentation:

• Diagnose software problems and perform in-depth analysis to identify underlying causes of support issues.
• Utilize strong problem-solving skills to develop effective solutions.
• Develop and deliver business analyst work products like BRD, use cases, User Stories, Process Flow Diagrams, Data Model diagram, Wireframes etc. across all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 3+ years of experience as an IT Business Analyst supporting data-driven, analytics, or platform-based solutions
• Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational data models; ability to query databases and analyze results
• Experience in requirements gathering, documentation, and validation (functional and non-functional)
• Proficiency in creating BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and data mappings
• Hands-on experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment
• Understanding of UI/UX principles, wireframes, and user journey validation
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• High attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities
• Experience with tools such as Jira, Microsoft Visio, Figma, and/or Adobe XD
• Experience in energy, utilities, or power markets is prefered
• Knowledge of U.S. and Indian energy markets, including Solar, BESS, ISO/RTOs, forecasting, pricing, settlements, and revenue analysis
• Experience supporting analytics platforms, simulation tools, or financial modeling applications
• Product-focused Business Analyst experience collaborating with Product Managers on discovery, roadmap, and delivery
