The Business Officer supports the smooth and efficient operation of Core Labs by managing end-to-end non-technical business and administrative operations. Working closely with Core Lab Directors, lab staff, and Shared Services functions, the role ensures operational continuity, compliance, and service excellence. The Business Officer proactively identifies risks, proposes solutions, and supports continuous improvement across multiple Core Labs, while also providing cover for other Business Officers when required.
The Business Officer will be responsible for a number of Core Labs but will operate in a larger eco-system with other VPR functions and will serve as absence cover when required by other business officers to ensure operations continuity.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end administrative and business operations for Core Labs, ensuring smooth, accurate, and timely execution.
- Coordinate with Core Lab Directors, Shared Services teams, and other stakeholders to support operational objectives and facilitate communication.
- Handle key administrative tasks including travel arrangements, onboarding, office logistics, and inventory management.
- Support recruitment processes by scheduling interviews, liaising with HR, and assisting with hiring workflows.
- Oversee procurement, shopping carts, reimbursements, invoices, and financial reporting while ensuring data accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare quotations, manage contracts with Legal, and maintain accurate business documentation.
- Identify operational risks, propose solutions, escalate decisions when needed, and support process improvements and SOP development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- Degree in a Core Labs–related field preferred (Science or Engineering)
- 3-5 years of experience in business operations, administration, or related roles.
- Strong understanding of shared services and laboratory operations.
- Excellent knowledge of financial systems (SAP, Ariba, etc.) Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field; a degree in Science or Engineering is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and adhere to institutional policies.
