The Opportunity
Ecora is seeking a motivated and technically proficient Intermediate Civil Engineer to join our growing team. This role goes beyond day-to-day design work and offers the opportunity to take ownership of projects from concept through construction. You will work on a diverse range of municipal infrastructure and land development projects and act as a key link between senior leadership and junior design staff.
As an intermediate member of the team, you will be expected to manage small-to-medium projects with a high degree of independence, work closely with the Senior Civil Engineer on technical delivery, mentor junior staff, and help ensure the overall quality, coordination, and successful delivery of projects..

Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Design & Engineering
- Lead the design and preparation of drawings for land development and municipal infrastructure projects, including:
- Subdivision servicing (roads, water, sanitary, storm).
- Site grading and drainage plans.
- Stormwater management systems (SWM).
- Utility alignment and coordination.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to oversee and produce surface models, corridor designs, and pipe networks.
- Prepare engineering reports, design briefs, functional servicing reports, and technical specifications.
2. Project Management & Contract Administration
- Manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets for small-to-medium scale projects.
- Prepare cost estimates (Class A-D) and tender documents (MMCD or CCDC standards).
- Perform Contract Administration duties, including reviewing shop drawings, processing progress claims, and issuing change orders.
- Conduct field reviews and site inspections to ensure construction adherence to design intent.
3. Mentorship & Collaboration
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Junior Engineers (EITs) and Civil Technologists.
- Collaborate with other Ecora disciplines (Geotechnical, Environmental, Structural) to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Communicate effectively with clients, approving agencies, and contractors to resolve technical issues.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Designation (Required): Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBC (or eligible for immediate transfer from another Canadian jurisdiction).
- Experience:
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering consulting.
- Strong background in municipal infrastructure design and land development in Canada.
- Software Skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is highly preferred.
- Experience with modeling software (e.g., PCSWMM, WaterCAD) is an asset.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of MMCD (Master Municipal Construction Documents) and local municipal bylaws/design guidelines.
- Other: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
