Commercial Manager / Commercial Lead / Managing Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Solent or Thames Valley
Salary: DOE (Depending on experience) + Car Allowance + benefits
Contract Type: Permanent / Full-time
We are seeking a commercially astute Commercial Manager to lead all commercial aspects of M&E construction projects, driving financial performance and providing clear contractual guidance. You will work closely with delivery teams and Department Managers to manage risk, optimise project margins, and ensure profitable, on-time delivery in line with client and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage all contract documentation, providing expert guidance from pre-tender through to post-contract stages.
Draft and issue clear contractual correspondence to clients and subcontractors.
Build and maintain strong post-contract relationships with design teams and clients.
Lead material procurement strategies and negotiate subcontractor agreements to maximize value.
Ensure timely submission of interim valuations, payments, and certification of subcontractor accounts.
Manage and resolve variations to protect and enhance project value.
Certify final accounts and agree settlements with clients.
Conduct cost-value reconciliations and monitor project financial performance through regular reporting.
Track project schedules to ensure deadlines are consistently met.
Drive the growth, development, and performance of the commercial team.
Skills & Experience:
HNC/HND/BSc in Commercial Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field; Chartered status or RICS membership is preferred
Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills
Strong leadership with the ability to inspire teams and foster collaboration
Commercially savvy, proactive, and solution-oriented
Experienced in managing multiple projects with a keen eye for detail
Flexible and adaptable, able to work across different business areas
Committed to continuous improvement and delivering real value
Full UK driving license is essential
Desirable:
Previous experience in a similar role or relevant placement
Some knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) projects
