About This Role
The Continuous Improvement (CI) Analyst provides analytical, technical and implementation support to the Continuous Improvement function, ensuring the successful execution of CI initiatives, methodologies, strategies and associated tools/techniques. The role focuses on delivering measurable cost savings interventions, operational efficiencies and process improvements in line with the Company’s short to medium-term business and operational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all improvement initiatives align with health, safety and environmental standards, reinforcing a zero-harm culture within mining operations.
- Serve as the primary resource for accessing relevant production, cost and operational data.
- Provide fact-based insights to support CI team in identifying priorities, solving root causes, and generating high-impact cost-saving ideas
- Assist Idea Owners in completing Idea Forms and maintain high-quality standards for documentation
- Provide analytical support for weekly CI reviews and departmental updates
- Validate and align CI priorities with operational and business objectives
- Communicate CI targets, priorities and performance expectations to all stakeholders
- Develop CI policies and procedures that support short‑term and long‑term operational requirements.
- Ensure alignment of CI policies and procedures with the mine’s operational objectives.
- Provide analytical and implementation support to Idea Owners throughout the project lifecycle.
- Initiate CI projects, ideas, strategies and improvement methodologies that deliver measurable value.
- Implement and maintain an effective system for tracking CI results and project benefits.
- Establish and maintain strong communication channels between departments, sections, and contractors.
- Ensure validation and implementation of Six Sigma and other CI methodologies.
- Maintain the infrastructure, tools and technologies supporting CI (e.g., Six Sigma, PIP).
- Ensure CI initiatives achieve significant cost reductions and efficiency improvements.
- Implement systems to track and validate project benefits (ROI and operational gains).
- Develop a strong understanding of improvement concepts and tools through guidance from the Business Coach.
Support localization and adaptation of improvement tools for site‑specific needs. - Maintain and oversee the CI ideas database and track progress of all initiatives
- Provide analytical support to facilitate implementation and ensure sustainability of improvements
- Track progress and outcomes of CI initiatives, highlighting underperforming or high-performing ideas
- Support Idea Owners in meeting governance and sign-off requirements
- Develop automated tools (scorecards, results charts) to monitor and communicate performance.
- Develop a solid understanding of key CI concepts, tools, and methodologies from the Business Coach
- Enhance practical implementation skills by actively participating in value driver trees, Idea Generation Sessions (IGS), and project tracking
- Support the CI team in transferring knowledge and building internal CI capability.
- Provide fact-base to help CI team identify priorities, solve root-causes and identify significant cost saving ideas
- Provide analytic support for weekly review and for updates to relevant departments.
Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies
- Bachelors degree in Mining Engineering, Minerals Engineering, Information Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in Continuous Improvement, Engineering or supervisory level within a mining environment.
- Experience in Project Management and Lean Six Sigma methodologies
