About the Role
As a Data Analyst at Middle Seat Digital, you will support our analytics work, providing insights into our advertising, fundraising, and organizing strategies. Your day-to-day will range from setting up dashboards and cutting email and phone lists to answering critical reporting questions and improving existing infrastructure.
You will be working with a tech stack that includes Redshift SQL, Google Looker Studio, and Google Sheets. You'll also work with the Democratic Party tech stack, including but not limited to platforms like ActBlue, ActionKit, Action Network, Civis, NGPVAN, Numero, Switchboard, Tatango and more. We are looking for a Data Analyst with a combination of the right technical expertise and a passion for helping progressive causes and candidates succeed.
This position reports to the Sr. Data Engineer .
Job Responsibilities
- Lead our data visualization and analytics work: Setup, upgrade, and troubleshoot both internal and external dashboards. Proactively provide analysis for ongoing work. Curate a culture of data-driven decision making and self-service analytics.
- Manage the lifecycle of data requests: Actively monitor and respond to the internal Slack data requests, engaging in timely back-and-forth communication with staff to clarify technical requirements, provide status updates, and ensure the final data delivery matches the strategic need.
- Document data standards and how-tos: Create and maintain clear documentation (data dictionaries and schema maps) for data sources and reporting logic to ensure a shared understanding of metrics across the agency.
- Train and support teammates on data products and digital tools: Provide technical training and assistance to team members. Offer guidance and support to teammates utilizing digital tools.
- Execute list rentals and buys: Lead the coordination and execution of internal and external email and phone data rentals and buys. Manage the secure transfer of PII.
- Cross-platform quality assurance: Perform regular audits to reconcile data discrepancies between CRMs (e.g., ActionKit vs. ActBlue) and reporting tools to ensure the "single source of truth" remains accurate.
- Support teammates in testing setup and rigor: Partner with strategy teams to design rigorous A/B tests for their different tactics, and analyze results to provide statistical confidence on high-performing content.
- Lead agency-wide data modelling: Design, deploy, validate, and improve models for strategy teams to use in their day-to-day work using rigorous statistical methods.
- Support the Data Department: Be a team player, provide support and feedback for technical projects led by the Data Department.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by management, adapting to evolving business needs and contributing to the team’s success.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Proficiency in SQL.
- Experience with data visualizations in Looker Studio, Tableau or a similar tool.
- Strong analytical skills with a passion for quantitative problem-solving, meticulous attention to detail, and effective multitasking abilities.
- Eagerness to excel in a fast-paced environment, possessing a proactive attitude toward tackling unique challenges and devising creative solutions.
- Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets, with experience utilizing advanced formulas.
- Familiarity with dbt for data transformation.
Strongly Preferred but Not Required
- 3+ years of professional experience
- Previous experience in a political campaign, nonprofit organization, or political consultancy is highly valued.
- Experience with the Democratic Party's technology stack, including ActBlue, ActionKit, Action Network, Civis, and NGPVAN.
- Experience in designing or developing analytical or statistical models.
- Proficiency in Python.
- An understanding of product development and management.
- Experience leveraging AI to support technical problem solving

This is a full-time, permanent role, and it can be based in DC or remotely within the US.
