DevOps Engineer

Compensation: $132,000 – $177,000 base + discretionary bonus

The Role
As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll own automation, tooling, and infrastructure across on-premises systems, co-located data centers, and containerized environments. Your work will focus on reliability, observability, and performance in production systems that operate under real-world trading constraints.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with developers, traders, and quants to ensure the stability, performance, and availability of trading systems
- Design, build, and maintain automation for workflows, deployments, and system operations
- Develop tools to improve reliability, monitoring, and operational efficiency
- Troubleshoot complex issues across applications, operating systems, and networks in live production environments
- Deploy and manage applications using configuration management and infrastructure-as-code practices
- Support containerized workloads and deployments across on-prem and co-located environments
- Assist with database administration, monitoring, and performance tuning
- Implement and refine logging, metrics, and alerting for rapid detection and response
- Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
- Participate in on-call or rotation-based support during critical trading hours as needed
Requirements
Qualifications
Required
- 2+ years of full-time professional experience in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or a similar high-performance role
- Strong troubleshooting skills across applications, operating systems, and networks in production environments
- Proficiency with Linux and Windows systems
- Solid scripting experience in one or more of the following: Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ruby (or similar)
- Experience with containerization technologies and modern observability practices
- Familiarity with structured data formats such as JSON, XML, and Parquet
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and perform well under pressure
- Strong communication skills and attention to documentation and process
Additional Requirements
- Ability to work on-site in the Chicago office (remote is not available)
- Willingness to relocate to Chicago (relocation assistance provided)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required
