ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS.
• Supervise all Domestic operations department and activities
o This includes oversight of all domestic transportation and logistics services. Transportation via air, ocean and land where applicable.
• Oversee the transportation of freight via air and ground and ensure complete customer satisfaction by facilitating timely and accurate communication
• Liaise with customers, suppliers and transportation companies to ensure that a premium level of customer service is always present.
• Ensure that all station boards in the system are up to date with all pertinent information such as PODs, milestones, status updates and costing information
• Ensure that all issues related to service failures are followed up on and corrective action implemented via CAR form
• Responsible for the cost efficient movement of shipments and operations.
• Manage, supervise and train department personnel
• Ensure that all personnel are providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Ensure prompt and accurate completion of all paperwork associated with movement of all shipments
• Ensure timely pick-ups, recoveries, deliveries, and carrier and agent selection, while maintaining cost controls
• Oversee and assist in the preparation and approval of rate quotes or shipment costing for internal and external customers.
• Conduct annual performance reviews for all staff within department.
• Hire, lead, coach, enforce, empower and direct reports to perform and achieve in line with Company values and strategy, and department goals adhering to Company SOP and policies.
• Supervise day-to- day operations of the Domestic operations department, interacting with other department managers, executive management team, the sales team, warehouse management and order processing.
• Ensure that department performance meets and exceeds established standards
• Report weekly on department performance regarding volume, revenue and other operational KPIs
• Recommend and implement strategies to continually improve department performance
Job Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in Domestic Freight Forwarding Operations Required. Please do not apply if you do not have direct Domestic operations experience.
• BS/BA degree.
• Self starter, motivated and driven
• Experience with customer relations and relationship management
• Must be proficient in MS Office applications
• General technical skills
• Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in written form across all levels of the organization and customers.
Experienced in managing a team of import and export agents in a dynamic fast paced department.
