We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Arc Flash analysis and electrical power systems design to support complex industrial and DOE-regulated projects. This role includes responsibilities across analysis, design, and field implementation, with increasing opportunities for technical leadership and project management development.
The ideal candidate will not only provide high-quality engineering support but also demonstrate the leadership aptitude, communication skills, and accountability required to progress into a Project Manager (PM) role, including managing on-site teams and coordinating multidisciplinary project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Arc Flash studies and coordination studies in accordance with NFPA 70E and IEEE standards.
- Conduct short circuit, load flow, and protective device coordination analysis.
- Support design and modification of low and medium voltage power distribution systems.
- Develop single line diagrams, panel schedules, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
- Evaluate existing electrical infrastructure and recommend upgrades or corrective actions.
- Support field walkdowns, construction support, and commissioning activities.
- Prepare engineering calculations, reports, and design packages.
- Ensure compliance with DOE, OSHA, NFPA, and applicable codes and standards.
- Support multidisciplinary coordination with mechanical, I&C, structural, and project teams.
- Provide technical input for procurement specifications and vendor evaluations.
Leadership & Project Management Responsibilities:
- Lead discrete work packages or technical scopes.
- Coordinate and provide technical direction to junior engineers, designers, and field personnel.
- Support planning activities including scope definition, schedule development, cost estimating, and risk identification.
- Interface with clients, subcontractors, and vendors to support execution of project objectives.
- Participate in or lead field activities, including managing on-site teams during walkdowns, installation, and commissioning efforts.
- Demonstrate ownership of deliverables, including quality, schedule adherence, and responsiveness to project needs.
- Progressively assume increased responsibility toward managing projects, teams, and client relationships.
Requirements
Minimum Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering from an ABET EAC-accredited program.
- US citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
- 5+ years of relevant industrial or DOE experience.
- Demonstrated experience performing Arc Flash and protective coordination studies.
- Experience with power system analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM, or equivalent software.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NFPA 70E, NEC, IEEE, and OSHA.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a highly collaborative team environment.
- Effectively prioritize workload across multiple projects with varying complexities and timelines.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, such as leading small teams, task groups, or technical efforts.
- Ability and willingness to take ownership of project scopes and drive work to completion.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- Prior experience supporting DOE or other nuclear facilities.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license.
- Experience in hazardous or high-consequence industrial environments.
- Experience leading small teams, managing subcontractors, or coordinating field execution.
