Engender Technologies
Engender Technologies is seeking an experienced Embedded Engineer (Firmware/Hardware) to join our innovative and fast-growing team. You’ll play a key role in developing our next generation of advanced cell sorting machines for the dairy industry, working at the intersection of electronics, embedded systems, software, and optoelectronics/photonics in a small, highly technical team.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in complex systems, enjoys working close to hardware, and is comfortable stepping across disciplines when needed.
Responsibilities
- Develop embedded solutions end-to-end: Design, implement, and test embedded firmware and hardware solutions for our cell sorting machines, focusing on real-time control, data acquisition, and communication protocols.
- Electronics & embedded systems development: Work hands-on with embedded microcontrollers, custom electronics, FPGA-based systems, and optoelectronics/photonics components used in our machines.
- Work with software engineers, and coordinate and manage any outsourced hardware / firmware work with potential technical leadership responsibilities as the team grows.
- FPGA Development: Develop and maintain FPGA-based control systems, optimising performance and reliability.
- Algorithm Development: Design and implement algorithms for real-time data processing and control.
- Testing: Design and build test benches/test fixtures; implement system integration tests (Hardware-in-the-Loop / automated tests).
- Cross-functional collaboration: Communicate effectively with software engineers, systems engineers, and product stakeholders.
- Versatility across the stack: Support adjacent engineering work where required, including some exposure to C# / WinForms-based systems to help balance workload across the team.
