EXTRUSION OPERATOR
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our Extrusion team’s swing shift at our New Haven production facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, a solid work ethic, and the ability to perform effectively in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
General
- Support Kwik Lok production activities through the manufacture of Kwik Lok closures with a focus on continuing improvement of quality, food safety, and manufacturing processes.
- Run orders as assigned by Production Management in the proper sequence.
- Follow all company established food safety and quality guidelines and procedures.
- Ensure the quality of product through constant monitoring regarding color, thickness of material, and free of any defects.
- Monitor product and packaging materials to ensure cleanliness of finished product and food safety for our customers.
- Stock and clean assigned work area daily to ensure a clean and safe work environment for teammates on the following shift, and integrity/safety of our finished product.
- Monitor the production area to ensure all personnel in the area are authorized to be there, report anything suspicious or anyone without a badge. Immediately, ask the person without a proper badge if they are supposed to be in the building and if they have signed in.
- Additional functions as assigned and needed for the good of the organization.
Extrusion
- Safely operate extrusion equipment in the manufacturing of Master Rolls.
- Maintain extrusion production schedule to support slitting operations and die cut production orders/schedule needs.
- Enter Resin and colorant batch/lot number into ERP system to be applied to master rolls, providing traceability of product throughout the entire manufacturing process.
- Monitor regrind to be mixed at a rate per company specifications.
- Assist with operating granulator, recycling production and extrusion waste into regrind material for use in extrusion.
Slitting
- Safely operate material slitting equipment in the manufacturing of slit plastic rolls from Master Rolls.
- Maintain slitting production schedule to support Die Cut production orders and schedule needs.
- Verify Master Roll control numbers used follow FIFO guideline of first in/first out, using oldest Master Roll material first.
- Enter Master Roll serial number into ERP system to be applied to slit rolls, providing traceability of product throughout the entire manufacturing process.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency in extrusion machinery, processes, and products.
- Capable of regularly lifting 40 lbs., and occasionally lifting up to 80-100 lbs.
- Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and kneel; and constantly hear, see, and talk.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

ALL THE DETAILS
- Pay scale: $19.00 to $30.00 per hour DOE, with a $0.50 shift differential

- Vacation: 120 hours a year, with increases based on years of service
- Holidays: 70 hours a year (8.5 days): 1 Floating Holiday, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following, half day on Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day
- Sick Leave: 40 hours a year, accrued at 1 hour per 40 hours worked for hourly employees, salary employees prorated for first year
- Other Compensation: Employees may be eligible for annual performance bonuses
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 10 hour days. Candidate has the choice to select from a shift time of 1:00pm to 11:00pm, or 3:00pm to 1:00am.
- Occasionally this position will be required to work Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 11:00pm, with advance notice given.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
- This position will train on day shift and work Monday – Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm until fully trained. Training periods are dependent on candidate experience and competency readiness.
- Location: New Haven, Indiana
- Work environment: Manufacturing facility – noise level 85-95 dB in production environment. Regularly bends, squats, reaches, kneels, and lifts 40 lbs.
