ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking an experienced and strategically-minded FCP Governance Counsel to work with Financial Sanctions in the FCP Governance Team, within a growing, technology-driven financial services environment. This role will be key in maintaining a strong Financial Sanctions Framework in Trustly’s European entities, providing expert guidance across the business, ensuring robust risk management practices and bridging the FCP Governance with Operations and Product. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting sustainable growth while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and regulatory integrity.
What you'll do
Financial Sanctions Governance Framework Management; including but not limited to, overseeing and ensuring that the Sanctions Governance Framework (including policies and instructions) is regularly reviewed, up to date and compliant with regulatory requirements and the internal governance framework Financial Sanctions Risk Assessment; managing the Financial Sanctions Risk Assessment process and documentationAct as a point of contact and subject matter expert for Financial Sanctions topics in the European organisation, supporting operational, product, and compliance teams with practical, risk-aware guidance in generalAct as a bridge between the FCP Governance Team and Operations, translating the Framework into operational practices and excellence Provide clear interpretation of Financial Sanctions regulations and guidelines and their application within a digital financial services contextSupport the wider FCP Governance organisation with other FCP-related tasks Coordinate preparations of FCP-related reports for senior management and the BoardCoordinate responses to regulatory requests and reporting obligations in line with applicable laws and expectationsCoordinate and participate in relevant governance committees and working groups focused on financial crime riskCollaborate closely with internal audit, legal, operations and product teams to strengthen controls and foster a culture of accountability
Who you are
Master’s degree in Law (LL.M.) or a Bachelor's/Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative discipline4+ years of experience in FCP, AML, financial crime compliance, or related risk roles, ideally including time in a regulated fintech or financial services organization, preferably experience from working in a disruptive fintech businessStrong knowledge of global and regional FCP (AML/CTF) regulations (e.g., EU AML Directives, FATF standards) in general and Financial Sanctions regulations and guidelines in particularDemonstrated experience developing and managing Financial Sanctions Frameworks, governance structures, risk frameworksSkilled in navigating complex environments and delivering practical solutions in alignment with both business and compliance objectivesProfessional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or equivalent are desirableExperience in other financial crime prevention governance topics, including AML/CTF and Fraud, is a plusIntegrity-driven, a strong sense of responsibility and urgency A strong collaborator who effectively partners with cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectivesExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsAnalytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to connect detail to strategic impactThrives working in a fast-moving, evolving regulatory and business landscape
