The Finance Manager is a leader in the accounting team. The Finance Manager is responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting by leading general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes. This role ensures strong internal controls, supports audit readiness, and contributes to financial system and process improvements. This position supports responsible stewardship of organizational resources and contributes to financial transparency in support of Apple Tree Dental’s mission.
The role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys hands‑on work, continuous improvement, and contributing to a mission‑driven organization.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger & Financial Reporting
o Prepare and review journal entries and supporting documentation.
o Maintain general ledger accuracy and account integrity.
o Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
o Prepare and review monthly and year-end financial statements.
o Analyze financial results and investigate variances.
o Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for financial activity.
o Support accounting for restricted funds, grants, and donor contributions as applicable.
o Maintain fixed asset accounting and related schedules.
o Oversees Grants accounting. Include invoices, expense tracking, financial report preparation and submission following the terms and conditions of each agreement.
o Assist with monitoring cash flow and expense management.
o Calculate and report incentive program results and production analysis.
o Supervise assigned accounting area
o Assist with development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.
o Become the subject matter expert of assigned accounting area.
Month‑End Close & Reporting
o Lead assigned portions of the monthly and annual close process.
o Follow close timelines and ensure completion of deliverables.
o Prepare accruals and adjusting entries.
o Review transaction activity for accuracy and completeness.
o Document and improve close procedures.
o Support financial review and reporting processes.
o Proactively provide financial insights and analysis to the CFO.
Internal Controls & Compliance
o Ensure transactions follow established approval and posting workflows.
o Maintain and support internal control processes.
o Support segregation of duties and audit trail integrity.
o Identify control risks and recommend process improvements.
o Prepare audit schedules and assist with external audit requests.
o Support compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
o Assist with government filing
Budget
o Assist with grant budgets
o Assist with financial budget
Collaboration
o Partner with clinical offices and internal teams to address accounting questions
o Contribute to financial system improvements and process enhancements
o Comfortable using various systems to derive data to assist analytical work
o Perform other accounting duties as assigned

Physical Demands
- Prolonged sitting may be required.
- Must be able to perform physical movements/motions with the degree of mobility, manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination normally associated with office tasks on a frequent, repetitive basis.

- The ability to utilize telephones, computers, keyboards and copiers is required.
- Must be able to work under stressful conditions, and tolerate irregular hours when required.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. is required.
- Manual dexterity is needed for using a calculator, adding machine and keyboard
