Food Service Manager - Summer 2026

$1,432-$1,532 per week | Seasonal | On-site | Free Housing and Meals

About the Role

As the Food Service Manager, you lead the entire kitchen team and make sure nutritious meals are delivered on time in a clean, safe, and welcoming space. You plan menus, order food and supplies, supervise staff, and enforce health and safety standards. This role is a hands-on leadership job that keeps the kitchen organized and focused all summer.

You will spend your summer planning and overseeing daily meals, guiding and supporting kitchen staff, managing inventory and purchasing, and keeping the food service department running smoothly.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and supervise the kitchen team, including assistants, cooks, and helpers.

  • Plan rotating menus and oversee meal execution for three meals a day.

  • Order food and supplies, track inventory, and manage the food service budget.

  • Maintain sanitation and food safety standards across all prep, service, and storage areas.

  • Train staff in kitchen procedures and address issues as they arise.

  • Assist with preparation of meals according to the food production plan and handle special diets.

  • Manage meal service flow and help the kitchen team stay organized.

  • Support overall kitchen needs and other camp tasks when needed.

Your work helps campers and staff enjoy timely, quality meals every day and keeps the kitchen running as a well-organized team.

Who We Are Looking For

  • 21 or older.

  • Experience in institutional or large group cooking.

  • At least 3 years of food service management experience including food safety, sanitation, and meal execution.

  • Current or willing to obtain a CA Food Safety Manager Certification.

  • Strong and clear leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Able to lead a team with clear direction and calm focus.

  • Calm under pressure and able to problem-solve quickly.

  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs, stay on your feet, and work long shifts.

  • Someone reliable who shows up on time and works hard.
