About the Role

We’re looking for our first dedicated data hire – a generalist who can tame messy data, architect durable pipelines, and turn raw signals into insights that matter. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, analytics, and business strategy: you’ll not only make our internal data systems reliable and observable, but also help us prove ROI for customers, evaluate quality of our AI outputs, and drive key decision-making across the business.

What You’ll Do

• Establish scalable data foundations by designing and implementing robust data models, pipelines, and processes to support product and company-wide analytics at Actively
• Develop metrics, frameworks, and dashboards to track business health, customer engagement, model performance, and value realization
• Analyze cross-customer trends and surface insights that inform strategy and product roadmap
• Shape the ROI narrative for prospects and customers
• Identify opportunities for growth and efficiency across the business, design experiments, and recommend improvements grounded in data
• Define the long-term vision for data at Actively: from tools/technologies that make our data stack best-in-class, to standards for data quality and observability, to how we measure success as a company

Who You Are

• Builder’s Mentality: Excited to be the first data hire – scrappy, able to set direction, but also roll up your sleeves and make progress independently.
• Hybrid Skillset: You’re as comfortable writing SQL and building pipelines as you are framing ROI stories for executives.
• Technical Rigor: Background in data analytics, with enough data engineering fluency to design schemas, own orchestration, and handle performance/scaling issues. Tools we use include SQL, DBT, and Python.
• Strategic Thinker: You don’t just report numbers – you help the team understand what they mean, where we’re winning, and where we need to change course.
• Customer-Obsessed: You care deeply about how data translates into customer value, and you’re energized by proving product impact.
• Communication: Ability to distill complex data into simple, compelling narratives for cross-functional partners and customers alike.
• Experience: Likely 4-7+ years across data analytics / data engineering roles, ideally with exposure to early-stage or high-growth SaaS environments.

The salary range for this full-time position based in New York is: $160K - $200K. This position is eligible for incentive stock options, subject to the terms of Actively AI's applicable plans. Actively AI offers the following benefits for this position, subject to applicable eligibility requirements: health, dental and vision insurance, retirement benefits, and unlimited PTO.
