THE ROLE
As a Freelance Food Experiences Producer, you’ll curate, produce, and promote Sofar’s culinary-driven experiences, from chef-led tastings and pop-up dinners to immersive food-forward gatherings that spotlight your city’s vibrant culinary scene. You’ll be a true Sofar ambassador, collaborating with other Producers in your city and partnering with the Global Communities team to deliver exceptional events, execute local marketing initiatives, and help expand Sofar’s footprint into food-centric experiences.
Our Producers live and breathe their city’s food culture. You’re always discovering the newest restaurant openings, emerging chefs, under-the-radar culinary collectives, and neighborhood gems. You come with a deep network of chefs, restaurateurs, food creators, food influencers, vendors, and hospitality professionals, and you know how to bring people together through unforgettable, sensory-rich experiences. Most of all, you know how to make them fun!
Like all Sofar Producers, you’re entrepreneurial, resourceful, and driven; whether it’s creatively selling tickets or problem-solving on event day, you know how to make things happen and thrive on the challenge.
Please note that our Producers are freelancers who earn commission-based pay. Your schedule is flexible, but activities may take place on evenings and weekends.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Launch and grow Sofar’s pop culture programming in your city: producing, promoting, and selling tickets using creative, self-directed local marketing tactics.Curate food-led experiences – from tastings and pop-ups to chef collaborations, food & music pairings, and immersive dining concepts – that resonate with your city’s culture and audience.Use your deep understanding of local food scenes, restaurant communities, and dining trends to select chefs, venues, and concepts that feel distinctive, welcoming, and city-defining.Identify and reach key audience segments to ensure events attract an engaged, diverse community of food enthusiasts.Build and maintain relationships with chefs, restaurants, food collectives, and hospitality groups to support programming, partnerships, and sponsorships.Spot opportunities with new restaurant openings, chef debuts, and culinary pop-ups, collaborating in ways that drive mutual promotion, content, and audience growth.Collaborate with other Sofar Producers in your city to align on event cadence, neighborhoods, cross-promotions, and shared community-building efforts.Work closely with the Global Communities team to uphold Sofar’s standards, share learnings, and help shape culinary initiatives more broadly.Own the quality and guest experience of each event, ensuring everything feels intentional, elevated, and rooted in hospitality.Support financial performance by tracking profitability and helping ensure healthy growth of your city’s culinary programming.Identify and cultivate partnerships with local organizations, food media, and community groups with aligned audiences to broaden reach and co-promote events.Contribute to a diverse ecosystem of Sofar experiences through cross-disciplinary ideas, including but not limited to food + music crossovers, chef spotlights, and neighborhood-themed concepts.
WHO YOU ARE
You have 1-3 years of experience in events, hospitality, restaurant operations, catering, experiential marketing, live event production, partnerships, and/or related fields.You are deeply connected to your city’s food and cultural scene: its chefs, restaurants, cuisines, neighborhoods, and the places people actually gather to eat and explore.You’ve attended, organized, or worked on culinary experiences (dinners, tastings, pop-ups, chef collabs, food markets, etc.) and understand what makes them feel special and authentic.You maintain a growing network of chefs, restaurateurs, culinary creatives, and hospitality partners you can tap for events, collaborations, and unique experiences.You’re commercially minded and understand how thoughtful programming, strong partnerships, and smart promotion drive ticket sales, brand visibility, and audience growth.You’re adaptable, reflective, and feedback-driven, continually interrogating what works, what doesn’t, and why. You’re open to criticism, curious about perspectives beyond your own, and attentive to how different genders, identities, and orientations might experience the same event.You excel at building relationships with restaurants, local businesses, food media, community organizations, and culturally relevant partners who add strategic value to culinary programming.You’re confident pitching event concepts and partnership opportunities, and ideally have experience securing sponsorships, F&B partnerships, or hospitality collaborations.You take pride in delivering polished, welcoming experiences and bring ownership, professionalism, and hospitality to every touchpoint with chefs, venues, partners, and guests.You’re highly organized, an excellent communicator (written and verbal), and skilled at managing multiple moving parts.You thrive in flexible, self-directed environments while staying connected and collaborative with fellow Producers and the Sofar team.
