Front-end Developer (Intermediate)

We’re looking for an intermediate Front-end Developer who brings strong technical craft, a thoughtful and collaborative mindset, and a passion for building responsive, accessible, design-aligned interfaces.

If you're a capable front-end developer with a few solid years of hands-on experience and you’re looking to deepen your expertise in a supportive, design-led, cross-functional environment, this could be the role for you.

What you’ll do

As part of a cross-functional delivery team, you’ll develop responsive, accessible, and performant front-end interfaces that bring designs to life. You’ll contribute directly to technical delivery by translating design intent into high-quality UI and ensuring the visual and interactive details meet expectations.

You will:

• Develop and implement front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS/SASS, JavaScript, and component-based frameworks such as React
• Translate design files and prototypes into production-ready UI aligned with brand and design system standards
• Ensure visual quality, accessibility, and performance across browsers and devices
• Collaborate closely with designers, back-end developers, and Producers to align on project goals and delivery expectations
• Participate in agile team activities, including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
• Contribute to improving our front-end practice, tools, and shared component libraries
• Write clean, maintainable code and follow established development standards and best practices
• You’ll be open to exploring modern tools and workflows - including emerging AI-assisted development practices - to enhance quality and efficiency where it makes sense.
• Support testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure stability and quality
• Maintain clear documentation for code, UI behaviour, and integration patterns.

Requirements

You must already be based in New Zealand and available to work from one of our offices in either Auckland or Wellington.

You’ll bring:

• 2+ years of commercial experience in front-end development
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS/SASS, JavaScript, and React (or similar component frameworks)
• Experience with responsive design, accessibility standards (WCAG), and design systems
• Familiarity with Git, modern build tools, and front-end workflows
• Experience working closely with design files in tools like Figma
• Solid understanding of browser quirks, performance considerations, and front-end optimisation
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality, robust UI
• Knowledge of Braze and Customer Engagement Platforms (CEPs) would be beneficial
• Confident communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a desire to grow your craft
