Job Details
InvoiceCloud is expanding its India Center of Excellence to mirror and extend U.S. engineering capabilities. We are seeking an Engineering Manager to build and lead high-performing teams within the IVR Technology Group, a subsidiary of InvoiceCloud, supporting secure, cloud-based communications, billing, and payment solutions.
 
Reporting to the VP of Product Engineering, this role is responsible for people leadership, technical direction, and delivery execution across Python-based services, telephony integrations, and platform modernization initiatives. The Engineering Manager ensures consistency, quality, and compliance across a globally distributed engineering environment.

  • Sets technical direction for Python-based services, telephony platforms, and modernization initiatives, aligning architecture decisions with long-term product and platform strategy.
  • Guides evolution of services built on Python, Django, DRF, FastAPI, and Linux, while leading selective modernization of legacy .NET and Java components.
  • Anticipates scalability, reliability, and security needs across communications and payment platforms, incorporating them into roadmap and architectural decisions.

  • Owns delivery outcomes for the team, ensuring predictable sprint execution, release readiness, and continuous improvement in cycle time, quality, and system stability.

  • Ensures high availability and performance of telephony and backend systems through disciplined engineering practices and operational rigor.
  • Partners with U.S.-based teams to maintain environment consistency and support unified global delivery standards.

  • Builds, leads, and develops high-performing engineering teams across Python services, telephony integrations, and platform modernization.
  • Coaches engineers on design, testing, code review, observability, and secure-by-default development practices.
  • Collaborates closely with Product, Security, Platform, Implementation, and Architecture teams to align execution and outcomes.
  • Champions governance and compliance aligned with PCI, SOC 2, and SOX through shared standards and cross-functional coordination.
 
Communication Skills
  • Communicates technical direction, delivery status, and risks clearly to engineering leadership, product partners, and stakeholders.
  • Creates clarity in ambiguous problem spaces by setting priorities, defining expectations, and aligning teams around shared goals.
  • Provides actionable feedback, performance coaching, and career development guidance to engineers at multiple levels.
  • Leverages automation and AI-enabled development capabilities to improve developer productivity, code quality, and delivery insights.
 
Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including 4+ years in an engineering management or team leadership role
  • Strong experience building and operating backend systems using Python, Django, DRF, and FastAPI on Linux environments
  • Telephony expertise with Asterisk, FastAGI, and NANP, including SIP, codecs, dial plans, and VoIP diagnostics using PCAP tools
  • Experience with services and API architecture, microservices, queues, caching, and database optimization
  • Proficiency with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, Azure environments, and observability tooling for logs, metrics, and tracing
  • Experience delivering secure, regulated SaaS solutions aligned with PCI, SOC 2, and SOX requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to lead distributed teams, modernize legacy systems, and balance speed, risk, and technical debt
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and people leadership skills
