Summary
Based in Fremont, CA, the Global Supply Manager is a high-impact, on-site role responsible for the end-to-end supply chain of Lithium-Ion batteries across the US, South Korea, and Europe. You will lead global sourcing strategies, manage high-level supplier relationships, and navigate raw material market trends to ensure a secure, cost-effective supply for rapid product expansion. This position requires at least 3 years of direct battery supply chain experience, a strong technical grasp of cell chemistry and quality standards, and the ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
Job Responsibilities
Sourcing Strategy & Execution
· Develop and implement a comprehensive global sourcing strategy for Lithium-Ion Batteries, focusing on regional supply redundancy and risk mitigation across the US, South Korea, and Europe.
· Identify, evaluate, and qualify new and existing suppliers in alignment with technology roadmaps and business requirements.
· Lead the entire Request for Proposal (RFP) process, including negotiating contracts, terms, and pricing to achieve optimal cost of goods sold (COGS) and favorable supply agreements.
· Manage supplier selection and develop strategic partnerships.
Supplier Relationship Management
· Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key battery suppliers and manufacturers globally.
· Conduct regular business reviews with critical suppliers to evaluate performance against key metrics (cost, quality, delivery, and technology).
· Drive supplier performance improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to ethical and sustainability standards.
Supply Chain Management
· Monitor global market trends, including raw material costs (e.g., lithium, cobalt, nickel), technological advancements, and geopolitical factors impacting the battery supply chain.
· Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to ensure seamless material flow and resolve supply chain issues (e.g., shortages, quality excursions).
· Manage inventory risk and implement strategies for optimizing inventory levels across regional hubs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
· Partner with regional operations teams in the US, South Korea, and Europe to harmonize sourcing practices and ensure regional supply consistency.
· Work closely with the Legal team to finalize supplier contracts and IP agreements.
· Collaborate with Product Development and Engineering on New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure supply readiness and smooth ramp-up.
Qualifications
· Demonstrated experience managing suppliers and sourcing in multiple global regions, with a focus on the US, South Korea, and European markets.
· Expert negotiation and contract management skills.
· Strong understanding of battery cell chemistries, manufacturing processes, and quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
· Exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills to evaluate supplier proposals and total cost of ownership (TCO).
· Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external partners.
· Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Korean is a plus.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
· Minimum of 7 years of experience in Global Supply Chain, Procurement, or Sourcing, with a focus on high-technology components.
· At least 3 years of direct experience managing the supply chain for Lithium-Ion Batteries or related energy storage components.
Benefits
· Comprehensive compensation package includes base salary + RSUs. Salary range for this role is $120,000 to $190,000. Base salary will be determined based on knowledge, experience, and education.
