In the healthcare sector, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) requires that all insurance payers exchange transactions such as claims, eligibility checks, prior authorizations, and remittances using a standardized EDI format called X12 HIPAA. A small group of legacy clearinghouses process the majority of these transactions, offering consolidated connectivity to carriers and providers.
Stedi is the world's only programmable healthcare clearinghouse. By offering modern API interfaces alongside traditional real-time and batch EDI processes, we enable both healthcare technology businesses and established players to exchange mission-critical transactions. Our clearinghouse product and customer-first approach have set us apart. Stedi was ranked as Ramp’s #3 fastest-growing SaaS vendor.
Stedi has lightning in a bottle: engineers and designers shipping products week in and week out; a lean business team supporting the company’s infrastructure; passion for automation and eliminating toil; $142 million in funding from top investors like Stripe, Addition, USV, Bloomberg Beta, First Round Capital, and more. Stedi is hiring a Head of Health Systems to own our go-to-market efforts within this segment. You'll build a dedicated team from the ground up as a player-coach, first by building the playbook as an individual contributor – sourcing opportunities, navigating complex sales cycles, crafting sales materials, and closing deals – and then recruiting a team as you gain momentum. Your primary buyer will be revenue cycle, finance, and IT leadership at the largest provider organizations in the country.
Your mission is to build and scale Stedi's go-to-market motion for health systems. You'll act as an owner – defining the strategy, building the pipeline, and closing the deals before hiring a team to scale what works best.
In order to achieve this, you will:
Manage the sales cycle from initial outreach through signed contract with health systems, academic medical centers, and medium-to-large provider organizations.
Build the health systems playbook: identify target accounts, refine sales collateral, develop positioning, define the sales process, and document what works so it scales beyond you.
Create urgency and clear business cases for clearinghouse modernization based on our customers’ financial, operational, and technical priorities.
Collaborate with Stedi’s product and engineering teams to translate health system requirements into product roadmap input – you'll be the voice of this market internally.
Partner with marketing to develop segment-specific positioning, content, and demand generation strategies for health systems buyers.
Work closely with the customer, enrollment, and payer operations teams to ensure deals are structured for successful implementation and long-term expansion.
Hire, onboard, and lead a health systems sales team as you scale.
8+ years selling into health systems. You've sold technology or services into revenue cycle, IT, or operations teams at health systems and academic medical centers.
A history of sales excellence. You're innately competitive with a track record of exceptional performance amongst your peers. You've closed complex, long-cycle deals and built trusted relationships with C-suite and VP-level buyers.
Deep network across health systems. You know the landscape – who the decision-makers are, how budgets flow, and what makes these organizations move. You can activate relationships on day one.
Speak the language. You can talk through RCM workflows, claims routing, and architecture with integration and IT teams.
Builder mentality. People management experience is a plus but not required. What matters is that you've operated with the autonomy and ownership needed, and you're ready to build something from zero.
Relentlessly resourceful. You do what it takes to get the job done. You are self-motivating, curious, self-disciplined, and don't wait to be told what to do.
Philosophical alignment with the Stedi Standards.
