About the role:

As a HR Business Partner, you will play a pivotal role in supporting leaders and teams to create high-performing, engaged, and inclusive workplaces. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business, offering pragmatic, commercially minded people advice and helping to deliver People & Culture initiatives aligned with Shift’s strategic objectives and values.

This is a hands-on, relationship-driven position, ideal for someone who enjoys coaching leaders, driving positive change, and serving as a trusted advisor in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with leaders and teams, offering guidance on a range of employee matters

  • Act as a strategic partner, aligning People & Culture programs with business objectives

  • Coach and support managers to drive capability, performance, and engagement in line with Shift’s values

  • Collaborate with technology and product stakeholders, applying strong domain understanding

Organisation design, hiring & onboarding

  • Assist leaders with organisational design, clarifying roles, and workforce planning

  • Create and review position descriptions and assist with job evaluations

  • Guide managers through recruitment and onboarding to ensure a consistent, positive employee experience

Policies, procedures & compliance

  • Promote consistent application of people policies and procedures

  • Support leaders with HR-related risk management while ensuring legal compliance

Change, workforce planning & process improvement

  • Advise and support on organisational change initiatives, including restructures and system implementations

  • Contribute to workforce planning

  • Identify and suggest improvements to people processes and ways of working

Culture & engagement

  • Serve as a go-to People & Culture contact, fostering collaboration, inclusion, and high performance

  • Role model and champion Shift’s values in all interactions

  • Support initiatives that strengthen organisational culture and engagement

WHS & broader P&C initiatives

  • Help the business meet WHS obligations and promote a safe, healthy work environment

  • Contribute to wider People & Culture projects as needed

What you’ll bring:

  • 4+ years of experience in a generalist People & Culture or HR Business Partner capacity

  • Strong understanding of contemporary and progressive people practices

  • Experience guiding leaders through change and complex people matters

  • Proven ability to partner effectively with technology-focused teams

  • Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities

  • Well-developed organisational and project management abilities

  • Tertiary qualification in HR, Business, or a related field (preferred)
