industrial design internship
Above is now looking for talented Industrial Design Interns to join the creative team in both our Malmö & Stockholm studios throughout 2026. The next intake will be around February/March, as well as in August/September post-summer - but we are open to discussing individual setups outside the usual cycle. Our internships are always on-site for best exposure and collaboration, and we require a duration of 5-6 months to really get to know each other.
Job Description
As an Industrial Design Intern at Above, you will get the opportunity to work with multi-disciplinary project teams on a wide variety of cutting-edge design & innovation projects for some of the world's most exciting brands.
Once here, you will be an integral part of our design team, and have the opportunity to proactively contribute to all stages of the design process, from research to concept definition, from hands-on prototyping to crafting compelling visions. With strong conceptual thinking and a fluid software toolbox, you will have the opportunity to shape excellent project deliveries through craft and creativity. You will get the chance to work on focused industrial design engagements, and equally integrate into larger, cross-functional project constellations as part of diverse, mixed-competency teams - acting as an ambassador of the industrial design discipline while collaborating with senior colleagues.
Our work is exciting and diverse in nature, spanning high-volume consumer products, smart home devices, furniture, robotics, future mobility experiences, progressive healthcare solutions, packaging and many more. We create impact across all levels and horizons - from category-defining hero products to multi-dimensional portfolio strategies and shaping compelling future visions alike.
What we are looking for
- An inspiring design portfolio; strong conceptual thinking and creativity
- Aesthetic sensibility balanced with a thoughtful, user-centered design approach
- Ability to adapt methods, thought-process and approach to project needs
- Fluency in CAD (Solidworks, Rhino or similar), including surfacing skills
- High-quality visualisation & animation output to express ideas and tell stories
- Hands-on mentality and familiarity with physical front-end prototyping
- Curiosity for sustainability, material innovation & manufacturing processes
- A humble, self-driven and optimistic attitude; willingness and desire to learn
- Team player, with good verbal & visual communication skills
