Infrastructure & Security Engineer (6 month contract to hire)
We are seeking a well-rounded Infrastructure & Security Engineer to support a short-term engagement with one of our customers. This role will focus on auditing and securing the client’s existing environment after a recent internal transition. The ideal candidate is a hands-on “jack-of-all-trades” technologist with experience across infrastructure, networking, security, and cloud technologies.
This engagement will primarily involve assessing current systems, identifying potential security gaps, and helping implement remediation actions across the environment.
**Located near Gainesville, GA is preferred within a comofrtable commute**
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a security and infrastructure audit to identify potential vulnerabilities, backdoors, or misconfigurations
- Review and strengthen identity and access management controls
- Evaluate and improve MFA and endpoint security configurations
- Assess existing networking infrastructure and recommend improvements
- Assist with remediation and hardening of systems across cloud and on-prem environments
- Document findings and provide recommendations to the internal IT team
Requirements
Required Technical Experience:
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365 administration and security
- 7–10 years of hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, networking, and security roles
- Experience working with Azure environments
- Experience supporting hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud)
- Strong networking fundamentals including routing, switching, and core network protocols
- Experience with VMware virtualization
- Experience implementing or managing Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) solutions
- Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) identity and access management
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Ubiquiti networking infrastructure
- Familiarity with UniFi controllers and gateways
- Experience with security and monitoring tools such as:
- Microsoft Defender
- SentinelOne
- Darktrace
- Arctic Wolf
