The MBU Quality department is responsible for upholding the high-quality standards of the Thorlabs supply chain from within the Mechanics group. The Inspection Programmer Supervisor ensures programs are effective and exist on all automated metrology equipment for dimensional inspection of high precision mechanical components, in compliance with blueprint specifications, Thorlabs Manufacturing and ISO9001 Quality Standards. The programs should ensure the accuracy, efficiency, and quality required on first piece, in-process, and production sample lot inspections for components produced on CNC machinery and manual equipment.
Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.
Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:
o Ensure programs are current and exist for all components manufactured by or for Thorlabs.
o Ensure programs are designed for maximum inspection efficiency and utilize the most appropriate equipment.
o Ensure inspection system fixtures are utilized and maximized, where possible, for pallet quantity inspections. Request and expedite new fixtures as necessary.
o Maintain comprehensive log of existing/required inspection system programs, ballooned drawings/inspection worksheets, and inspection fixtures.
o Ensure best method of inspection and targeted critical features are clearly identified.
o Coordinate worksheets with inspection system programs.

Physical Activities: Work may be active, could stand or sit for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times. The employee may lift or move objects up to 20 pounds. Employees must grasp, manipulate, or assemble parts and components that are often very small. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, may be noisy at times. Must be able to wear appropriate clothing and personal protective equipment such as but not limited to masks, glasses, gloves, and specialty garments. The required PPE and training allow for the safe handling and processing of chemicals like adhesives, lubricants and solvents, and safe operation of job-related equipment and tools

Pay range for this position is $77,000 - $96,000 depending on experience
Direct Reports: This position supervises a team of employees within the department and is responsible for the hiring and performance management of employees within that area.
