The Role
This is a full-time role based in New York. The Sixth Street Insurance Operations & Program Management Office (PMO) Team is responsible for providing support, subject matter expertise, and strategic insight to the Sixth Street Insurance business unit and Sixth Street portfolio companies. As a Vice President, you will play a critical role in enhancing portfolio company operations through a technology and engineering lens. You will be a key partner to the investment team, supporting the underwriting of new deals by assessing technical infrastructure and identifying opportunities to leverage advanced technology solutions, including AI, to improve platform performance and scalability.
As an Insurance Technology Program Manager in the Sixth Street Insurance Operations & PMO Team, you will play a key role in the continued build-out and expansion of the Insurance business unit in the following areas:
- Due diligence of M&A / deal pipeline
- Insurance business unit project portfolio management and report syndication support
- Program and project management of key initiatives
- Management of key business processes for the Sixth Street Insurance team
- Support of portfolio company technology projects, system/data conversions, portfolio / product integrations, and outsourcing efforts
- Operating expense planning and budgeting analysis and oversight of portfolio companies
- Mature interaction and engagement models with portfolio companies
The candidate will work closely with Sixth Street’s investment professionals, portfolio company leadership teams, and internal engineering partners to drive tech transformation and performance improvements across the platform and maximize returns. The candidate will provide support for the Sixth Street Insurance portfolio companies across the U.S., Europe, and Bermuda. The overall objective of the role is to increase the value of the insurance portfolio by working closely with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver on the Insurance Business Plan.
Core Responsibilities

- Deal Underwriting & Due Diligence: Lead the assessment of technology stacks, data architecture, and IT costs for deals / M&A transactions; perform due diligence on potential technology synergies, tech debt, and estimate the costs of integrating targets into existing portfolio companies or enhancing standalone platforms to inform bid pricing
- Portfolio Company Tech Enhancement: Partner with portfolio company CTOs and COOs to modernize their engineering cultures and technology infrastructure, focusing on scalability, security, and operational efficiency. Provide strategic advice, insights, and support to portfolio companies on their technology transformations, data and portfolio migrations, and outsourcing strategies
- AI & Modern Innovation: Identify and implement advanced technology solutions, including AI and machine learning, to automate insurance processes (claims, policy administration, etc.) and improve the performance of the Sixth Street Insurance business unit
- Integration Management: Provide oversight and strategic direction to the technology roadmap of new acquisitions, ensuring seamless system and data conversions while minimizing operational disruption
- Platform Capability Build-out: Collaborate with Sixth Street’s internal Engineering and Data teams to build out solutions for monitoring and managing insurance investments and real-time portfolio reporting. Recommend and support strategies to improve systems, processes, and scalability of the Insurance business unit
- Expense Optimization: Conduct deep-dive analysis into portfolio company technology spend, recommending vendor consolidations, outsourcing strategies, and cloud-native transitions to improve margins
- Risk Assessment: Provide operational risk oversight of portfolio companies and support risk assessments and mitigation strategies related to technology infrastructure
- Strategic Advisory: Provide subject matter expertise on emerging InsurTech trends and how they can be applied to create a competitive advantage for Sixth Street’s insurance business unit
- Cross Platform Collaboration: Contribute to improving and refining interaction and engagement models between Sixth Street and insurance portfolio companies

Preferred
- 5-10 years of experience driving technology transformation in financial services (preferably insurance)
- 5-10 years of program / project management experience
- Experience driving outsourcing of operations and technology business functions including contract design and negotiation with counterparties
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and deliver results in various business settings
- Thorough understanding of how to evaluate ROI of various operations and technology improvement opportunities
- Self-starter who requires little direction
- Ability to multi-task and maintain composure in a high-volume environment
- Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Structured problem solver who is able to synthesize complex information from a variety of sources into implementable recommendations and solutions
- Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams.
- Strong prioritization and project management skills.
- Comfort working in a high growth, iterative environment
- Deep experience in financial services operations, preferably life insurance, annuities, and pensions in the U.S. and Bermuda markets
- Familiarly with investment and asset management operations for insurance companies a plus
- MBA, consulting experience, and PMP a plus
- Experience in private equity or alternative asset management a plus
Compensation
The base salary for this position is expected to be between $175,000 and $225,000. The base salary offered to the selected candidate will be commensurate with a candidate’s relevant experience and other qualifications for the position, as determined by Sixth Street in its sole discretion.
