Hunt Forest Products in Pollock, LA is seeking to fill a limited number of internships for current junior/senior college or trade school students (or dual enrollment high school students ready to enter junior or senior semesters). This internship opportunity is limited to students pursuing degrees in electrical or manufacturing programs with the desire to build a career as an electrician or millwright. This temporary, part-time, internship could be the start to a vast and long-term career in manufacturing. Hunt Forest Products would consider any candidate that successfully completes the internship program as a potential, full-time employee in the future. Candidates will be given view of the internship syllabus during their interview process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Successful completion of either an 8- or 16-week program (based upon class schedule demands)
- Work well with others in a team environment.
- Train in various areas of knowledge within either discipline.
- Follow all company safety rules and PPE use.
- Follow all company rules and procedures regarding daily work activity.
Requirements:
- Must be actively pursuing a degree in either manufacturing maintenance, electrical maintenance or PLC operations.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Previous work experience that demonstrates the ability to hold employment for significant periods of time (2 years or greater). First time employment seekers are welcome.

- Candidates are required to provide a minimum 500-word essay discussing how this internship will impact their future.
- Candidates must provide at least one letter of recommendation from an instructor.
- Must be flexible to work up to 12-hour shifts.
- Must successfully pass pre-employment testing and background checks if given a conditional offer.
Physical and Safety Requirements: (This is a safety sensitive position)
- Ability to work in an industrial environment that includes heat, cold and noise.
- Safely operate assigned tools and equipment.
- Safely maneuver around moving machinery, uneven ground, steps, ladders and stairs.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Adherence to consistent hydration schedule.
- Ability to lift, push, pull and have exposure to various weights and sizes of veneer, plywood, lumber, bark and sawdust.
- Ability to lift over shoulder/head height.
- Ability to stoop, walk, stand, push, pull, bend, kneel, climb as to demonstrate a range of motion needed to complete assigned work during 12-hour shifts.
- Must be able to hear, read and see directions; instructions and/or signals.
- Clearly communicate safety issues and concerns as they appear.
