ROLE OVERVIEW

The Inventory Specialist is a highly analytical role responsible for executing and optimizing inventory allocation and replenishment strategies across all omni-channel touchpoints, including Retail, E-Commerce, Wholesale and Distribution Centers. This position supports both pre-season and in-season inventory decisions by evaluating sales performance, inventory levels, and emerging trends to recommend and execute timely actions.

This role plays a critical part in maximizing sales, improving sell-through, and minimizing markdown risk by ensuring the right inventory is in the right place at the right time across all channels and locations. The Inventory Specialist provides clear visibility into weekly performance and inventory health while helping translate plans into executable inventory actions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Inventory Allocation & Replenishment

  • Allocate and rebalance inventory across channels and locations based on sales trends, channel demand profiles, and inventory availability
  • Manage and maintain system min/max levels; identify and execute replenishment needs beyond standard parameters
  • Execute weekly inventory transfers, stock consolidations, and re-allocations to support in-season demand shifts and selling performance
  • Partner with Planning and Inventory leadership to optimize inventory deployment across business units and respond to channel-specific inventory requests

In-Season Performance & Analysis

  • Monitor weekly sales, sell-through, weeks of supply, and stock coverage and SKU productivity by channel to identify risks and opportunities
  • Produce and analyze weekly allocation, sales, and inventory performance reports for Merchandise Planning and cross-functional teams
  • Recommend in-season actions to improve availability, reduce stockouts and overstock, and flag aging inventory
  • Support future inventory flow planning through insights gained from in-season performance and post-season analysis

Tools, Systems & Data Integrity

  • Build, maintain, and enhance inventory and replenishment tools to proactively address stock needs
  • Utilize ERP systems, Shopify POS, and Business Intelligence tools to manage inventory and analyze performance 
  • Ensure inventory accuracy and integrity across systems, virtual warehouses, and physical locations
  • Analyze inventory flow between systems and locations to identify gaps, inefficiencies, or data/process issues

Inventory Operations & Controls

  • Partner with Operations teams to support audits, cycle counts and physical inventories across locations
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and shrink through detailed root-cause analysis and follow-up actions
  • Oversee inventory movement and reconciliation across all locations
  • Provide ongoing support to locations on inventory-related processes including receiving, tracking, auditing, and reporting

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Liaise with Operations, Supply Chain, and DC teams on delivery volumes, timing, and execution
  • Partner cross-functionally with Merchandise Planning, Retail, Finance, Tech, Operations, and Supply Chain to ensure inventory alignment and accuracy
  • Document and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for allocation and inventory processes
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory efficiency, scalability, and best practices

EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 1-3 years of experience in inventory allocation, planning, operations, or a related analytical role (retail, fashion, or accessories preferred)
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to interpret sales and inventory data
  • Proficient in Google Suite. Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas)
  • Solid numerical and problem-solving skills to interpret data and inform decisions
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex challenges
  • Experience building working tools and trackers
  • Exposure to ERP platforms or POS systems
  • Familiarity with NetSuite is a plus
