As the IT Infrastructure and Security Specialist, you will assist PEG / PGE / KP by providing technical expertise and support across various IT operations to ensure seamless functionality within the organisation. This full-time, skilled position involves maintaining computer systems, including mobile devices, networks, and peripheral devices (IT systems), as well as handling desktop support, system configuration, and equipment installation. The role primarily requires work in an office setting during regular business hours, with occasional after-hours work as needed.
Additionally, you will be responsible for developing, procuring, or managing the necessary competencies to optimise and maintain the IT infrastructure.
Requirements
User Support & Onboarding:
- Provide timely and professional IT support to end-users for software, hardware, and network-related issues.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding of users, including provisioning and deprovisioning system access in line with approved SOPs. Maintain structured ticketing processes and ensure SLA adherence.
Device Configuration & Maintenance:
- Ensure devices are optimised, patched, and securely connected to company systems.
Peripheral & Office Equipment Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain all computer peripherals, including printers, scanners, webcams, and video conferencing equipment, ensuring they are fully operational for daily business functions and remote collaboration.
Network & Server Support:
- Assist in managing server networks, troubleshooting network issues, and escalating complex problems to the GM.
- Support the deployment of patches and vulnerability management of networked devices.
Access Control & Security:
- Assist in installing, configuring, and maintaining access control systems to enhance office security.
Procurement & Contract Management:
- Source and procure IT equipment, software, and services in line with approved budgets and procurement processes.
- Obtain quotations, raise purchase requisitions, submit invoices, and manage third-party IT contracts to ensure reliable service delivery.
Documentation, Governance & Compliance:
- Prepare and maintain structured SOPs, standards, asset registers, and technical documentation. Maintain the IT risk register, support audit requirements, and ensure compliance with internal policies, cybersecurity standards, and applicable data protection legislation.
Training & IT Administration:
- Provide one-on-one training to users when required, maintain an up-to-date asset register, and attend weekly IT meetings with the IT Committee.
General IT Support:
- Perform additional IT-related tasks as required by management to ensure smooth IT operations Key Responsibilities IT Infrastructure and Security Management.

End-User Support:
- Provide timely and professional IT support to end-users for software, hardware, and network-related issues.
- Conduct training sessions and inductions for users to enhance their understanding of IT tools and systems.
- Foster effective communication with end-users to troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly. Network and Systems Management
- Configure, install, and manage IT Infrastructure.
- Maintain and monitor Windows Server environments and Azure platforms and Microsoft 365 applications or portals.
- Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure business continuity.
Cape Town & Energy Site Support
- Energy Site & Remote Support: Travel to Cape Town and operational energy sites when required to deploy, configure, and troubleshoot IT and network infrastructure.
Procurement and Vendor Management
- Source and procure IT equipment, software, and services in line with organisational needs and budgets.
- Oversee third-party IT contracts to ensure reliable delivery of services and equipment.
Collaboration and Reporting
- Work closely with the GM and IT Committee on strategic projects, including system upgrades and network optimisation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date IT documentation, including asset registers and technical manuals.
- Provide regular progress reports and updates to GM on IT projects and operational performance.

The Candidate will be required to have the following qualifications and skills:
Education & Experience
- Equivalent education in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
- Current CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+
- Proven experience as an IT Technician, Systems Administrator, or similar role.
- Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications and Certifications
- It will be advantageous to have the following skill or experience
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
- Cisco Certified Network associate (CCNA)
- Fortinet NSE Certified
- Familiarity with OT (Operational Technology Systems)
- IT equipment configuration in remote environments
- Knowledge of backup Solutions and Disaster Recovery Strategies
