Haven is building the future of migraine care for the 40 million Americans who suffer from this debilitating neurological condition. Backed by Precursor Ventures and 1843 Capital, we're transforming how migraine is treated through an innovative combination of telemedicine, AI-enabled monitoring, and personalized care plans. Our early results are exceptional—our initial patient cohort is seeing a 70% improvement rate with days impacted by headache reduced by half.
As Lead Nurse at Haven Migraine and Headache Center, you will have a direct, meaningful impact on patients’ lives. Migraine is one of the most misunderstood and under-treated neurological conditions — only 8% of patients receive adequate care. You will help change that.
You'll work closely with our founding team, including our Stanford-trained Chief Medical Officer, to deliver truly personalized headache care. This is a unique chance to bring high-quality, guideline-driven migraine management to patients nationwide and help build the clinical foundation of a fast-growing, mission-driven startup.
If you’re energized by helping patients feel seen and understood, evidence-based care, and building something that doesn’t widely exist today, you’ll thrive here.
Guide patients throughout their care journey — ensuring they have timely access to medications, clinical support, and care plan coordination. You’ll be an essential voice for patients, clinicians, and our broader care team.
Partner to build out the workflows and systems that support Haven nurses to ensure patient care plans are implemented. Mentor and onboard nurses to the team, serving as an ambassador for the nursing team. This role combines patient-facing clinical support, care coordination, and quality assurance in a virtual-first practice environment. Additionally, this role will help ensure that the nursing function at Haven is high quality and efficient.
Clinical Documentation & Orders: Prepare and pre-populate notes in Elation; review outside records and finalize provider orders
Care Coordination: Manage referrals, imaging, labs, medication refills, and prior authorizations to ensure seamless care delivery
Patient Communication & Triage: Respond to patient inquiries, conduct triage and escalation per protocol, clarify issues before visits, and meet response-time SLAs
Procedure & Care Plan Support: Prepare Botox and injection materials; support APP/MDs in reviewing and updating longitudinal care plans
Quality & Workflow Oversight: Participate in chart audits, track care delays, and help optimize clinic workflows
Like all early startup roles, you’ll wear many hats — jumping in where needed to support outstanding patient care and shape our clinical workflows.
A registered nurse (California license preferred) with 4+ years of triage experience in neurology, emergency/urgent care, primary care, or related fields
Experience in telehealth, virtual care, or remote patient communication
Strong ability to map out nursing workflows, optimize triage protocols, and leverage technology to work smarter
A natural mentor and trainer to nurses and other interprofessional care team members
A strong clinical communicator who can balance efficiency with empathy
You’re likely a strong fit if you’re a clear communicator, highly organized, can think strategically about workflow improvement and excited to help build a modern migraine-care model that blends clinical excellence with technology. You will also likely be excited by this opportunity if you are comfortable navigating early-stage startup ambiguity and evolving processes.
We’d love for this person to be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and join us in the San Francisco office a couple of days each week. However, we’re absolutely open to remote candidates if you’re the right fit and are excited to travel in for quarterly planning, team collaboration, and key moments that are better in person.
At Haven, we offer a unique opportunity to work directly with experienced founders and clinical leaders who have built and scaled successful healthcare companies. You’ll receive meaningful equity in a venture-backed company tackling a massive problem, along with comprehensive healthcare benefits. Our hybrid work environment, with 2 days per week in our San Francisco office, provides flexibility while maintaining strong team collaboration.
Diversity is built into our DNA with a founding team representing POC, female, disabled, and LGBTQ+ founders. We strongly encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply—many successful candidates may not meet every requirement. Studies show that underrepresented candidates often only apply when meeting 100% of qualifications; we'd love to hear from you even if you don’t check every box.
