We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to take ownership of the core technical foundation of a fast-growing, developer-focused platform. This role is central to building and scaling the systems that power high-performance data processing, tracing, and observability. As an early technical leader, you will work closely with the founder on product direction and collaborate directly with users to shape what gets built next. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex backend problems, designing robust architectures, and influencing both technical and product decisions from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the core backend architecture, including data models, APIs, queues, and processing pipelines.
• Design, build, and maintain high-performance, reliable systems that handle traces and large-scale data efficiently.
• Develop and manage APIs and services using modern backend frameworks, ensuring scalability and low latency.
• Architect and operate data pipelines, storage layers, and integrations with relational and vector databases.
• Work with cloud platforms (AWS and Azure) to design secure, resilient, and cost-effective infrastructure.
• Implement and optimize observability, tracing, and monitoring using industry standards and tools.
• Collaborate closely with the founder on product decisions, technical trade-offs, and long-term architecture.
• Engage with users and internal stakeholders to understand real-world needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Set engineering best practices around code quality, performance, security, and reliability.
• Contribute to technical roadmaps and help establish the foundation for future engineering hires.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Strong experience building backend systems using Python, with hands-on expertise in frameworks such as FastAPI.
• Solid understanding of data modeling and storage using PostgreSQL and experience working with vector databases.
• Proven ability to design and operate data pipelines and event-driven or queue-based architectures.
• Experience working with cloud infrastructure on AWS and/or Microsoft Azure.
• Familiarity with observability and tracing concepts, including tools and standards like OpenTelemetry.
• Exposure to modern AI/LLM ecosystems and tooling such as LangChain is a strong advantage.
• Comfortable working with TypeScript for APIs, services, or supporting systems.
• Strong system design skills, with the ability to balance performance, reliability, and developer experience.
• A product-minded engineer who enjoys early-stage environments, ambiguity, and direct ownership.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate closely with founders, users, and cross-functional partners.
