About the Role
We are looking for a Litigation Counsel to own and drive all litigation matters across the
company. Commure has an active commercial litigation portfolio and, as a California-based company, regularly handles employment disputes. You will serve as the primary in-house litigation lawyer, working directly with leadership to manage risk, control costs, and execute litigation strategy across all matters.
What You'll Do
Lead all defensive and offensive commercial litigation, from pre-suit strategy through trial and appeal, including matters in Delaware Chancery Court and other jurisdictions
Manage employment litigation and pre-litigation disputes, including wrongful termination, discrimination, and wage-and-hour claims
Own alternative dispute resolution (ADR) strategy and execution, including mediation
and arbitration proceedings
Select, retain, and manage outside counsel across all active matters. Set and enforce
litigation budgets, negotiate fee arrangements, and hold firms accountable for value.
Direct discovery strategy, including document preservation, collection, review, and
production. Coordinate internal fact-finding and witness preparation
Draft, review, and edit pleadings, motions, briefs, and settlement documents in
coordination with outside counsel
Advise leadership on litigation risk, exposure analysis, and settlement strategy. Provide
clear, actionable recommendations on when to fight and when to resolve
Build and maintain litigation hold processes, playbooks, and internal policies to reduce the company’s litigation risk profile over time
Collaborate with the broader legal team on cross-functional matters where litigation risk intersects with commercial, regulatory, or IP issues.
What You Have
J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar (California bar admission or willingness to obtain strongly preferred)
5+ years of experience in complex commercial litigation, with meaningful time at a top-
tier law firm or in a litigation-heavy in-house role
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple active matters simultaneously, including high-
stakes disputes with significant financial exposure
Strong written advocacy skills. You can draft a persuasive brief and you can also explain
litigation risk to a non-lawyer executive in plain English
Experience managing outside counsel relationships, including budget oversight and
strategic direction
Comfort with discovery mechanics, including e-discovery platforms, document review
workflows, and privilege logging
Preferred
Employment litigation experience, particularly California employment law
Experience with Delaware Chancery Court proceedings, including M&A litigation or
stockholder actions
Familiarity with healthcare or technology industry litigation
Experience building litigation processes and playbooks in a high-growth company.
