The Manager of Finance Operations & Compliance is responsible for maintaining the financial integrity and operational rigor across our finance team. This role combines core accounting oversight with financial compliance and systems governance. The ideal candidate will build structure around how financial information flows from project and operational teams into accounting systems—ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to tax and regulatory requirements.
What You'll Own
Manage the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements.Oversee core accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor payments, and payroll (employees and contractors).Lead all aspects of tax compliance (corporate filings, GST/HST, IDMTC, SR&ED) and support external audits and government reporting.Track and manage cash flow, foreign exchange activity, and treasury operations to ensure liquidity and risk control.Serve as the intake and data steward for project financial inputs—validating forecasts, resource plans, vendor costs, and revenue milestones from development teams.Act as the primary point of contact for first-pass QA on producer-supplied financial data and deadlines for submission.Maintain structured templates and systems (e.g., NSPB, GL entries, vendor tracking) to standardize finance workflows.Oversee revenue recognition and milestone billing for co-development and partnership contracts.Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions to support ongoing compliance and reporting requirements.Continuously improve financial processes, ensuring scalability, accuracy, and control as the company grows.
Required Experience
CPA designation (or equivalent) strongly preferred.5+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, ideally in a project-based or creative production environment.Demonstrated experience in managing compliance programs, tax filings, and financial audits.Advanced proficiency in accounting software and financial systems (e.g., ERP tools, NSPB, QuickBooks, or NetSuite).Strong analytical skills with a hands-on approach to data integrity and financial process improvement.Excellent communication and collaboration skills—especially when working cross-functionally with producers, operations, and leadership teams.
