The Master Control Scheduler is accountable for the development, maintenance, integration, and integrity of the Project Master Schedule for a large, complex capital project. The role ensures the schedule is logic-driven, fully integrated across engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning, and suitable for forecasting, governance, and executive decision-making. The role acts as the single source of truth for schedule logic and the critical path on the project.
This position will be based out of the Nexus Cleveland Office with up to 50% travel to Akron, OH.
Key Accountabilities
Ownership of the integrated Project Master Schedule for the project
Integrity and quality of schedule logic, sequencing, and structure
Identification, maintenance, and communication of the true project critical path
Credible forecasting of key project milestones and completion dates
Integration of engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning schedules
Governance of schedule baselines, updates, and approved changes
Visibility and management of float consumption and near-critical paths
Assessment and communication of schedule risk and uncertainty
Alignment of contractor and vendor schedules with the project master schedule
Provision of reliable schedule information to support management decision-making
Core Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and control the integrated Project Master Schedule in Primavera P6
Define and enforce project WBS, coding structures, calendars, and milestone definitions
Integrate discipline, contractor, and vendor schedules into a single coherent master schedule
Ensure schedules are logic-driven with minimal constraints, no open ends, and justified lags
Identify and analyze the critical path and near-critical paths on a continuous basis
Monitor float trends and highlight emerging schedule risks
Establish and maintain the baseline schedule and update cycles
Perform schedule impact assessments for scope changes, delays, and productivity issues
Support schedule risk analysis and confidence-based forecasting where required
Review and challenge EPC or EPCm and vendor schedules for realism and compliance
Resolve schedule integration conflicts between engineering, procurement, and construction
Prepare schedule narratives explaining drivers, risks, and mitigation options
Support project reviews, governance forums, and executive reporting
Develop and maintain the Schedule Management Plan
Mentor and guide project schedulers and discipline planners
Ensure consistent application of scheduling standards across the project
Required Experience and Expertise
Minimum 12 years of experience in project planning and scheduling on large capital projects
Demonstrated experience developing and managing integrated master schedules on projects typically in the $500 million to $2 billion plus range
Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6, including schedule development, integration, progress updating, and critical path analysis
Proven capability building logic-driven schedules from early engineering through construction, commissioning, and handover
Strong experience integrating multi-discipline schedules covering engineering, procurement, construction, and start-up activities
Demonstrated experience reviewing and integrating EPC or EPCm contractor schedules and major vendor or OEM schedules
Advanced understanding of engineering deliverables, design maturity sequencing, and IFC release strategies
Deep knowledge of long-lead equipment procurement cycles, manufacturing durations, inspection milestones, and logistics impacts
Strong familiarity with construction execution sequencing, installation logic, workface planning interfaces, and productivity considerations
Experience supporting commissioning, systems completion, and start-up schedule integration
Proven experience establishing schedule baselines, managing updates, and administering schedule change control processes
Demonstrated capability performing schedule impact assessments and time delay analyses
Experience supporting quantitative schedule risk analysis and Monte Carlo simulations is preferred
Strong working knowledge of schedule quality metrics and forensic schedule review techniques
Experience operating within stage-gate or phased project governance frameworks
Ability to interface effectively with Project Directors, Project Managers, Project Controls, and contractor planning teams
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline is preferred
Professional certifications such as PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) or equivalent are advantageous
