Material Engineer (Wood Factories - Joinery)

  • Review project drawings, specifications, and BOQs to identify required wood, joinery, finishes, hardware, and accessories

  • Prepare and submit Material Technical Submittals (MTS) for consultant and client approval

  • Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal factory teams to collect datasheets, certificates, samples, and mockups

  • Track all submissions using the Material Submittal Log (MSL) and ensure timely follow-ups

  • Respond to consultant/client comments and manage revisions until final approval

  • Ensure materials comply with project standards (fire ratings, finishes, sustainability, LEED requirements if applicable)

  • Coordinate with the procurement team to confirm approvals before material ordering

  • Work closely with production and site teams to ensure only approved materials are used on site

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field

  • 3–4 years of experience in material submittals within wood factories, joinery, or interior fit-out projects

  • Good understanding of wood materials, finishes, hardware, and joinery systems

  • Familiarity with consultant approval processes and construction documentation

  • Comfortable using MS Excel, Word, and PDF editing tools
