What you will do:
Responsible for design, integration and optimization of industrial automation systems or subsystems. Analyze and optimize workflows and eliminate inefficiencies in our waste processing plants globally Analyze production and waste processing data and make recommendations for efficiency improvementsDesign and develop automation concepts and factory layouts with support from the Automation Engineering Manager and Director Research and DevelopmentTake part and present in design reviews for automated systems and equipmentLiaise with external suppliers of components and/or entire systemsSupport the building, testing and commissioning of automated systems from design approval to site acceptance testingEnsure safety standards and compliance requirements are met for newly installed equipment Monitor performance and data of implemented systems, and make recommendations for further improvementsEstablish maintenance plans for newly introduced equipment and provide troubleshooting supportComplete allocated tasks in timely mannerAutonomously coordinate projects and communicate key project milestones with key stakeholdersWork closely with other local and global team members, such as Director of Engineering, Executive Director of Operations, Equipment and Maintenance Engineers, Plant Managers, health and safety team and other key stakeholders to optimize workflows and integrate automation into the existing and new processes.Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of automation processes and tools, making improvements as needed to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability.Stay up to date on the latest automation tools, technologies, and best practices to ensure the organization is always using the most effective solutions
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical or Mechatronics)Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar Automation Engineering roleDemonstrated hands-on experience as a mechanical or mechatronics engineer or other relevant professionExpertise in industrial automation technologies and control system design including PLC and HMI programmingProcess optimization use of lean principles to improve workflow, cycle times and reduce wasteAbility to work with external service providers Ability to integrate controls such as sensors, actuators and visions systems into cohesive platformsUnderstanding of electrical and machine safety standards including those set by OSHA, ANSI, NFPA and ISO and experience in conducting risk and safety assessmentsStrong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principlesStrong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including troubleshooting of interdisciplinary issues arising from working with multiple vendorsKnowledge and experience in SolidWorks (Including 2D drawings, 3D solid modelling, sheet metal modelling, assemblies, configurations, BOMs, etc.) Ability to coordinate and manage projectsExcellent personal and communication skillsNaturally skilled at working effectively with cross functional teamsAbility to work independently and autonomouslyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsFlexibility to travel where required
