The Role
We’re looking for a Mid-Senior Full Stack Developer based in Melbourne to join our growing team of 20+ developers. You’ll bring strong backend expertise to support a team that is currently frontend-heavy, helping us build and scale the systems that construction teams rely on every day.
You’ll work on products used to deliver major infrastructure such as highways, bridges, and hospitals—software that underpins projects millions of people will depend on for decades.
This is a hands-on engineering role, with close day-to-day collaboration with our Melbourne-based CTO and Head of Engineering, while also working alongside our established Philippines-based engineering team. You’ll tackle complex technical challenges across our entire stack, from crafting intuitive user interfaces to architecting robust backend systems that enable real-time collaboration at scale.
What You’ll Do
Build and scale backend services that power real-time collaboration on billion-dollar construction projects
Architect solutions for complex data synchronisation across multiple construction planning systems
Create elegant frontend experiences using React and TypeScript that make complex workflows feel simple
Design and implement WebSocket-based features for live updates across distributed teams
Optimise performance for applications handling very large project datasets
Contribute to our serverless infrastructure and event-driven architecture
Participate in code reviews and help raise engineering standards across the team
Collaborate closely with Melbourne-based leadership and asynchronously with our global engineering team
About You
Essential
Based in Melbourne, Australia
5+ years’ experience in software engineering using JavaScript or TypeScript
Deep experience with React and modern frontend patterns (we use Redux client-side)
Strong backend development experience, with production systems built and scaled
Experience building real-time applications and working with WebSockets
Solid understanding of database design and optimisation (NoSQL experience valued)
Proven track record of delivering high-quality code through testing and peer review
Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration
Highly Valued
Experience with Node.js, serverless architectures, and event-driven systems
Knowledge of Redis for caching and real-time functionality
Familiarity with Go or Python for backend services
Experience with GCP or similar cloud platforms
CI/CD pipeline experience
Flutter or mobile development experience
