Mariana Minerals is a software-first, vertically integrated minerals company on a mission to supply the critical minerals powering modern energy, AI, and defense technologies. We’re reimagining the minerals supply chain by combining deep industry expertise with advanced software, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
Mariana Minerals is seeking a Mining Engineering Manager to lead mine project development across early and mid-stage studies, from concept through feasibility and execution. This role is responsible for integrating geology, mine planning, geotechnical analysis, infrastructure, and supporting disciplines into coherent, executable mine development strategies.
In this role, you will act as the technical owner for mine project definition—ensuring that geological understanding, mine designs, schedules, infrastructure concepts, and risk assessments are aligned and developed to the appropriate level of maturity for each project stage. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage technical trade-offs, and support decision-making related to project advancement, sequencing, and capital allocation.
This is a senior technical management role focused on integration, rigor, and project readiness rather than day-to-day operations.
Mine Project Development Leadership
Lead mine project development activities from early concept through pre-feasibility and feasibility stages
Define project scope, study objectives, and technical deliverables for mine development work
Ensure mine projects are developed with clear assumptions, consistent methodologies, and appropriate levels of technical maturity
Multidisciplinary Integration
Coordinate and integrate inputs from geology, mine planning, geotechnical, hydrogeological, infrastructure, and processing teams
Ensure alignment between resource models, mine designs, schedules, infrastructure concepts, and cost estimates
Act as a technical bridge between strategic planning and execution-focused engineering teams
Mine Planning & Engineering Oversight
Oversee development of mine layouts, sequencing strategies, and production schedules for open pit and/or underground projects
Ensure geotechnical analyses and design criteria are appropriately applied to mine designs and infrastructure
Guide development of mine infrastructure concepts including access, haulage, material handling, utilities, and site layout
Risk, Readiness & Decision Support
Identify technical risks and uncertainties across mine development disciplines and ensure they are assessed and mitigated
Support development of risk registers, design criteria, and project readiness assessments
Prepare and present integrated technical recommendations to support project advancement and investment decisions
External & Internal Coordination
Manage work executed by external consultants, engineering firms, and technical specialists
Serve as the primary technical interface between internal teams, consultants, and project stakeholders
Support downstream engineering, permitting, and execution teams by ensuring a clean technical handoff
Team Leadership & Capability Building
Lead, mentor, and develop mining engineers and technical contributors across project teams
Establish best practices and consistent standards for mine engineering, project development, and operations across the organization
Contribute to continuous improvement of internal tools, templates, and workflows for mine studies
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
10+ years of progressive mining engineering experience across both open pit and underground operations
Demonstrated experience leading or integrating multidisciplinary mine development studies
Strong understanding of geology, mine planning, geotechnical design, and mine infrastructure development
Experience acting as or supporting QP/RP for NI 43-101, SK-1300, and/or JORC-compliant studies
Ability to balance technical depth with project-level integration and decision-making
Strong communication skills and comfort leading cross-functional technical teams
Professional Engineer (P.Eng / P.E.) or equivalent
Experience with greenfield or early-stage mine development projects
Experience managing external consultants and study budgets
