Join Apify on our mission to help anyone get more value from the web, so they can automate tasks and spend time on the things that matter most.
Apify downloads billions of web pages from all over the world for science, market research, and finding lost children. We give AI chatbots the context to interact intelligently, and we're making AI agents an integral part of the Apify platform.
We're looking for an Off-Page SEO Specialist who will own Apify's off-page activities. Someone who will help us get new backlinks, connect us with relevant journalists, and make sure we're visible across different communities, such as Reddit. But it's not just about backlinks anymore. With the increase in traffic from LLMs, it's more important than ever to be mentioned and visible in all relevant places online, such as listicles, roundups, and more.
This isn't about blasting generic emails and hoping for the best. You'll build real relationships with the people and publications that matter, create outreach that gets responses, and work with the Content team to develop assets that naturally attract links.
What you'll be working on:
You'll be part of the SEO team, reporting directly to the SEO Manager, and working closely with Content, Marketing, and DevRel teams.
Plan and execute link building campaigns. You'll develop various strategies for acquiring backlinks. You'll know which pages need links and why, and you'll build campaigns that deliver. Some of these campaigns will also support other SEO campaigns.
Conduct outreach at scale. You'll find prospects, personalize outreach, and manage campaigns. You know how to get replies, not just send emails.
Build relationships with relevant publications and communities. Tech blogs, developer newsletters, SaaS review sites, GitHub communities, Reddit, Hacker News - you'll identify where our audience hangs out and establish Apify's presence there.
Monitor and reclaim backlink opportunities. You'll track unlinked brand mentions, lost backlinks, and competitor link gaps. Apify gets mentioned a lot; you'll turn those mentions into links.
Collaborate with content on link-worthy assets. You'll work with the Content team to ideate and develop content that attracts links, such as data studies, tools, original research, and comprehensive guides.
You'll pitch stories, product launches, and data-driven content to journalists and tech publications. When we have something newsworthy, you'll make sure the right people know about it.
Lead our visibility on Reddit. You'll build our presence in relevant subreddits, engage authentically with the community, and find opportunities to mention Apify as the solution.
Track and report on link building performance. You'll monitor new backlinks and mentions, tying them to ranking improvements and increased traffic. You'll know what's working and what's not and adjust accordingly.
Who we're looking for:
3+ years building links and running outreach campaigns in B2B SaaS, tech, or developer-focused companies, with a track record of landing high-quality backlinks. Your outreach emails get responses because you know it's about providing value and standing out, not just asking for links.
Proficient with link building tools like Ahrefs, Pitchbox, Hunter.io, or BuzzStream. You can analyze a competitor's backlink profile, reverse-engineer what's working for them, and spot the opportunities worth going after for Apify.
You know how to create content that attracts natural backlinks and works for digital PR, then pitch it to journalists and publications in a way that actually gets their attention.
Organized and process-driven enough to manage multiple campaigns and hundreds of follow-ups without losing track of conversations or dropping the ball. Outreach is a numbers game, and you're built for it.
Strong understanding of SEO beyond just link building - you get how backlinks fit into the bigger picture and why some pages need links more urgently than others.
Excellent written English. Your emails are sharp, human, and persuasive, and you adjust your tone depending on whether you're reaching out to a tech journalist or a Reddit moderator.
You use AI extensively to work faster - drafting outreach variations, researching prospects, analyzing data - but the strategy and final decisions are yours. We use AI a lot at Apify and expect you to do the same.
What we expect from you in the first six months:
Your priority is to audit Apify's current backlink profile, identify quick wins, and understand which pages need links and why. You'll get familiar with our website architecture, learn how different page types work together, and start building prospect lists for the publications and communities that matter in our space.
While you're part of the SEO team, you'll work closely with Content, Marketing, and DevRel - collaborating on link-worthy assets, coordinating digital PR efforts, and building Apify's presence in communities like Reddit.
Ultimately, you'll have the freedom to shape how we approach off-page SEO at Apify - not just execute campaigns but identify new opportunities and build the relationships that drive results.
Month 1:
Orient yourself to Apify culture, values, and how the various teams (especially the Content team) work together, including technical onboarding and creating an Actor demo.
Get to know Apify's website architecture, priority pages, and how our different page types (Actors, docs, blog, landing pages) work together.
Audit Apify's current backlink profile and existing link building efforts, including whatโs in the pipeline.
Identify quick wins: unlinked brand mentions, lost backlinks, and low-hanging fruit opportunities.
Start building your prospect lists and understanding which publications and communities matter most in our space.
Months 2-3:
Run your first outreach campaigns and start consistently acquiring quality backlinks.
Test different angles and messaging to learn what resonates with our target publications and communities.
Build relationships with key publications, bloggers, and community members in the web scraping and automation space.
Establish your workflows, templates, and reporting cadence.
Collaborate with content on at least one link-worthy asset (data study, tool, or comprehensive guide).
Begin building Apify's presence on Reddit and other developer communities.
Have clear visibility into what's working and what's not, and iterate based on data.
Month 4 and beyond:
You're consistently acquiring quality links that impact our rankings for priority keywords.
You've built a pipeline of relationships with publications, bloggers, and community members who know Apify and are open to featuring our content.
You're contributing ideas for link-worthy content and working proactively with the content team.
You're an integral part of how we grow organic visibility at Apify. Not just executing campaigns, but shaping our off-page strategy.
You've documented your processes and built systems that could scale if we grow the team.
By following this timeline, you'll establish yourself as a key contributor to the SEO team and own the relationships and backlinks that help Apify compete for the keywords that matter most.
