We're looking for an SEO Specialist with a technical focus to own the foundation that makes Apify discoverable across search engines and LLMs. Apify's website is a complex ecosystem - product pages, developer docs, a marketplace with thousands of tools, blog posts, programmatic landing pages - and all of it needs to work for users, search engines, and now AI models pulling context from the web.
You'll scale our SEO by building and optimizing programmatic landing pages, setting up systems that automatically catch issues before they become problems, and eliminating manual work through smart workflows. This isn't maintenance mode - it's about building infrastructure that lets our content perform at scale.
What you'll be working on:
You'll be part of the SEO team, reporting directly to the SEO Manager, and working closely with Content, Engineering, and the Marketing team.
Monitor and fix technical SEO issues. You'll own technical SEO health using tools like Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and Google Search Console.
Improve crawlability, indexability, and site architecture. You'll continuously optimize how search engines discover and understand the Apify website.
Scale SEO through programmatic and other pages. You'll work on programmatic SEO initiatives, helping create and optimize landing pages at scale using internal tools and tools like AirOps.
Implement and maintain structured data. You'll own Schema.org implementation across different page types (product pages, documentation, FAQs, how-to content).
Analyze logs and crawl data to inform strategy. You'll dig into server logs and crawl data to understand how Googlebot and LLM bots interact with the Apify website.
Build and maintain SEO automations and workflows. You'll set up SEO automations that save the team hours of manual work and keep us proactive rather than reactive.
Beyond technical work, you care about the full picture and will also contribute to overall SEO performance. Researching new topics, analyzing traffic patterns, spotting opportunities for improvement, and contributing to the broader SEO strategy.
Who we're looking for:
3+ years of hands-on SEO experience at a SaaS or tech company, with deep technical SEO expertise: crawlability, indexation, site architecture, canonicalization, hreflang, structured data implementation, robots.txt, XML sitemaps, and log file analysis.
You think strategically and see the big picture, coming up with innovative ideas that move the needle at scale. Self-motivated problem solver - if you hit an obstacle, you find a way around it.
Experience with Core Web Vitals audits, performance optimization, Schema.org markup, and JSON-LD implementation. You know how to structure data for rich results and can read server logs to extract actionable insights.
Programmatic SEO experience - you've created and optimized thousands of pages at scale while maintaining quality.
Proficient with Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and Google Sheets, plus you can set up basic automations in these tools or in Make/n8n.
Excellent written and verbal English to explain technical concepts to non-technical teammates. You use AI extensively to work faster and stay on top of SEO's rapid changes (like AI search optimization), shaping AI outputs rather than accepting defaults.
Nice to have: experience with international SEO and multilingual site structures.
What we expect from you in the first six months:
Your priority is to understand Apify's website architecture and how Apify Actors, documentation, blog, and programmatic pages all connect. This will allow you to identify where the biggest technical SEO opportunities lie. You'll run a comprehensive audit, get familiar with our tech stack, and start building relationships with the engineering and content teams you'll collaborate with daily.
You'll join sprint planning sessions, sit in on feature development discussions, and work directly with the teams building new site components to make sure SEO is baked in from the start. Beyond technical work, you'll contribute to overall strategy: spotting new opportunities, analyzing what's working, and helping shape how we approach growth.
Month 1:
Orient yourself to Apify's culture, values, and how teams work together, plus get familiar with our SEO strategy and current projects.
Get familiar with Apify tools, processes, and workflows. We use Notion, Slack, Trello, Ghost, and a range of other tools. Experience with these will help you fit in quickly.
Complete a technical onboarding demo to become familiar with the Apify platform and Apify Actors.
Get to know Apify's website architecture, tech stack, and how the different page types (Actors, docs, blog, landing pages) work together.
Run a comprehensive technical audit to identify quick wins and bigger projects.
Begin developing and implementing internal linking strategies.
Months 2-3:
Take ownership of technical SEO monitoring and begin fixing issues independently.
Lead your first programmatic SEO project or structured data implementation.
Build relationships with engineering and start contributing to sprint planning for SEO-related tickets. Attend engineering grooming and syncs for new features to prevent any SEO damage.
Establish reporting dashboards to track progress.
Use Screaming Frog for automated content checks and technical monitoring.
Revise existing programmatic landing pages, propose improvements, and start implementing them.
Help improve internal linking across the site, ideally at scale.
Month 4 and beyond:
You're the go-to person for all things related to technical SEO at Apify.
Independently identify opportunities, prioritize projects, and collaborate cross-functionally to ship improvements.
Contribute to broader SEO strategy and help shape how we approach new product launches from an SEO perspective.
Build and maintain automations that keep the team proactive rather than reactive.
Take ownership of technical SEO documentation and best practices for the wider team.
By following this timeline, you'll establish yourself as a key contributor to the SEO team and own the technical foundation that powers Apify's organic growth.
