This position directs all tasks and activities related to scope of production, contracts, quantity takeoffs, estimating, project management, drafting and engineering, scheduling, customer service and accounts receivable/payable for all standard concrete products. Directs, collaborates and coaches the individuals who lead these functions.
Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities:
- Ensures that project estimates are prepared in a responsive and accurate manner to allow the company to optimize its opportunities to successfully quote and execute appropriate work.
- Collaborates with the Production Manager to develop production schedules based on project requirements and available resources.
- Assists with reviews of all project-related contracts, specifications and insurance certificates for adequacy and communications with General Manager of any concerning issues or language.
- Works with the Safety Coordinator to ensure that safety and quality control policies and procedures meet current industry standards and are effectively implemented.
- Monitors material and labor charges against both standard and custom projects to ensure proper progress billing.
- Reviews payables to monitor material costs against estimates before forwarding to the General Manager for approval.
- Evaluates the work of directly reporting individuals for the purpose of determining skill level, training needs, and potential for increased responsibility; and advise them of opportunities for career advancement.
- Conduct performance appraisals of those employees who are direct reports, and reviews recommended salary and status adjustments with the General Manager.
- Performs miscellaneous task assignments as requested by the General Manager.
- Services as a role model for employees with regard to attendance, timeliness, loyalty, mutual respect and support for organizational teamwork and continuous process improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within the construction industry
- Minimum 2 years of experience managing a team of 2+ individuals
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and quality standards
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Ability to effectively manage resources and budgets
- Proficiency in project management software and tools
