About Valka.ai

Valka, a visionary spin-off from the Realms Group (the parent company of [Oddin.gg](http://oddin.gg/)), is on a mission to revolutionize the way people create and experience digital content. Our team believes that content shouldn’t just be consumed; it should be co-created in real time, blurring the lines between imagination and reality. By harnessing the power of cutting-edge AI, we aim to build an interactive human-digital platform where virtual characters respond dynamically to each user’s voice, text, gestures, and more.

This is your chance to join a diverse group of innovators who are driven to redefine what’s possible in generative content. Together, we’re changing the paradigm from passive viewing to active participation, unlocking new creative frontiers across gaming, entertainment, education, and beyond.

What You'll Work On

  • Support Product & Research Teams: Partner closely with engineering and research groups to understand their infrastructure needs and help them move fast with reliable, well-supported systems.
  • Design, Deploy & Operate Systems in AWS and on-premise
  • Implement Infrastructure Automation: Use Terraform or similar IaC tools (CloudFormation, CDK, Pulumi) to automate deployments, manage configuration, and maintain consistent, reproducible environments.
  • Collaborate on CI/CD: Support developers on Github Actions and create stable release processes
  • Operate Containers & Runtime Environments: Maintain containerized workloads, primarily via ECS, and ensure smooth orchestration, scaling, and observability of our services.
  • Tools, Environments & Internal Platforms Support internal tooling, dev/test environments, and shared infrastructure that enables teams to work productively.
  • Troubleshoot & Improve Systems: Debug issues across networking, compute, storage, containers, and CI/CD systems. Identify root causes, propose solutions, and drive meaningful improvements.
  • Be steward of security & maintainability
  • Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration: Document systems and best practices, contribute to internal standards, and work closely with peers to elevate overall operational maturity.
  • Skills You Need

  • AWS Proficiency: Strong, hands-on experience managing production workloads on services like EC2, ECS, RDS, and Kafka/MSK. Comfortable designing architectures that balance reliability, performance, and cost.
  • Infrastructure as Code & Automation: Solid experience with Terraform (or CloudFormation/CDK/Pulumi). Able to define, version, and automate infrastructure in a repeatable, robust way.
  • Containers & Orchestration: Familiarity with deploying and operating containerized applications (Docker/ECS/Kubernetes optional). Understanding of logging, monitoring, scaling, and basic scheduling concepts.
  • CI/CD & Release Management: Experience building and maintaining testing and release pipelines. Familiarity with GitHub Actions or similar platforms. Able to define predictable, low-friction release processes.
  • Operating Systems: Strong Linux fundamentals (networking, services, troubleshooting). Basic experience with Windows Server environments is a plus.
  • Networking Fundamentals: Understanding of VPCs, subnets, routing, firewalls, load balancers, DNS, and general network troubleshooting.
  • Datacenter & Physical Servers: Some experience with racking, cabling, provisioning servers, and diagnosing hardware issues—or willingness to learn.
  • Scripting & Problem Solving: Ability to automate workflows using Bash, Python, or similar languages. Strong debugging skills and curiosity to dive into unfamiliar technical areas.
  • Security Awareness: Working knowledge of IAM, least-privilege design, secrets management, patching, and secure network configuration.
  • Monitoring & Observability: Familiarity with tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or similar systems for logs, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
  • Teamwork & Communication: Able to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, explain technical concepts clearly, document systems, and contribute to a high-trust remote culture.
  • Remote-Friendly Practices: Comfortable working asynchronously, communicating proactively, and managing your own time in a distributed environment.
