About the Role
The Principal Product Manager for Payments & Financials defines and leads the strategic direction of financial and payments capabilities that empower nonprofits build personal connections that drive growth. You'll own product initiatives from research through launch and iteration, serving as the domain expert and cross-functional leader for payments and financial reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Define and own the long-term product vision and multi-year roadmap for Payments & Financials, connecting product investments directly to 2-5X business growth objectives
Anticipate and respond to financial, regulatory, and technological trends in payments and donor engagement
Partner with executive leadership to inform portfolio-level prioritization and investment strategy
Drive build/buy/partner decisions that balance speed-to-market with strategic control
Own the product integration and relationship with the payment processing partner
Identify new market opportunities where enhanced payment capabilities unlock revenue growth
Cross-Functional Influence & Execution
Serve as the payments domain expert and strategic advisor across engineering, design, finance, compliance, and GTM teams, ensuring alignment and raising organizational capability in payments strategy
Influence without authority, driving clarity and momentum on high-impact initiatives through collaboration and expertise
Enable Product Owners to execute within the payments and financials portfolio, offering strategic guidance and removing roadblocks
Own the outcome, not just the strategy, step in to unblock, clarify, or redirect when execution stalls
Market & Customer Insight
Lead strategic market analysis for payments and financial management in the nonprofit SaaS ecosystem
Translate customer insights, regulatory requirements (PCI-DSS, SOC 2, compliance), and financial workflows into product direction
Identify capability gaps that prevent winning deals or entering new segments
Financial & Operational Strategy
Define and own performance metrics for the payments portfolio (such as % growth in payment processing revenue)
Build business cases connecting product investments to growth outcomes
Identify and mitigate operational, financial, and compliance risks
Drive alignment between technology investments and revenue/impact outcomes
What You Bring
Required Experience & Skills
5+ years in Product Management within SaaS, fintech, Payfac, or payments platforms, with demonstrated impact on business growth tied to Payment Processing
Deep payments expertise: payment processing, financial systems, and compliance frameworks (PCI, SOC 2, reconciliation, settlement)
Proven track record of driving cross-functional strategic initiatives without direct management authority, you've influenced outcomes through expertise and relationships, not hierarchy
Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills connecting data-driven decisions to business outcomes
Excellent executive communication and cross-departmental collaboration
Track record of building new capabilities or entering new markets through product strategy
Preferred Experience
Experience in nonprofit SaaS, fundraising, or donor management technology
Knowledge of nonprofit financial workflows (fund accounting, restricted/unrestricted funds, audit requirements)
Familiarity with accounting integrations (QuickBooks, Sage) and reporting platforms
Experience building or scaling a payments business from early stage to significant scale
