Process Engineer-Technology Development (Polymer Patterning)

As a Process Engineer focused on Polymer Patterning and Advanced Manufacturing, you will lead the development and optimization of processes for next-generation electronics production. This role centers on innovating and refining polymer patterning techniques, leveraging roll-to-roll (web handling) manufacturing, and integrating in-line vision recognition systems. That

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize polymer patterning processes for flexible electronics, with a focus on roll-to-roll (web handling) manufacturing.
  • Design and refine in-line vision recognition systems to monitor and control pattern quality, alignment, and defect detection during continuous processing.
  • Establish and document best practices for polymer patterning, web handling, and vision system integration, ensuring robust and repeatable production outcomes.
  • Analyze process data to drive improvements in yield, throughput, and product quality.
  • Qualify new patterning processes for compatibility with existing and future manufacturing lines, supporting seamless transitions from R\&D to production.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to polymer patterning, web handling, and vision systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, digitalization, and lean process improvements.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Experience/Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5-7+ years of hands-on experience in process engineering, polymer patterning, or electronics manufacturing, preferably in roll-to-roll or high-mix/mid-volume environments.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Deep expertise in polymer patterning and roll-to-roll (web handling) manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with in-line vision recognition systems for process monitoring and quality control.
  • Background in statistical methods, data visualization, systematic experiment design, and related software (e.g., JMP, Minitab).
  • Ability to synthesize and interpret complex process data to support continuous improvement.
  • Independent problem solver with a desire to learn new skills and technologies.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Adaptability to changing requirements in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
