We are seeking a Product Engineer – Backend to design, build, and scale the foundational backend systems of a data-intensive enterprise platform. This role sits at the core of the product, powering APIs, data pipelines, and services that must operate with high reliability, performance, and scalability. You will work in a fast-paced environment where engineering decisions directly influence product outcomes, system resilience, and customer experience. The ideal candidate brings strong backend fundamentals, a deep interest in distributed systems, and an ownership-driven mindset to solve complex technical challenges end to end.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services that support core product functionality and future scale.
• Build and evolve RESTful APIs with a focus on performance, reliability, and clean interface contracts.
• Develop and manage event-driven architectures and streaming pipelines using Kafka to handle high-volume data ingestion and processing.
• Architect and implement distributed systems that are fault-tolerant, observable, and easy to extend.
• Ensure data consistency, integrity, and efficient processing across microservices and backend components.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and frontend or platform engineers to translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Own backend services in production, including monitoring, debugging, performance tuning, and incident resolution.
• Continuously improve system design through refactoring, documentation, and adoption of best practices in backend engineering.
• Contribute to technical discussions, architecture reviews, and decisions that shape the long-term backend roadmap.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Strong experience in backend development with Golang, including building production-grade services and APIs.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems concepts such as scalability, concurrency, fault tolerance, and eventual consistency.
• Hands-on experience with event-driven systems and streaming platforms like Kafka or Confluent Kafka.
• Proven ability to design and work with microservices architectures in real-world environments.
• Comfort working with data-intensive systems that require efficient ingestion, processing, and delivery.
• A problem-solving mindset with the ability to take ownership of features and systems from design through deployment and support.
• Experience thriving in a startup or fast-moving environment where ambiguity is common and impact is high.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and explain technical trade-offs clearly.
