Heron Power is a startup building cutting-edge power electronics for the 21st-century grid. We aim to debottleneck the growth of electricity generation and consumption with scalable, innovative, and lower-cost hardware solutions—accelerating the electrification of everything.
Our first focus is building better converters (inverters & rectifiers) to connect large-scale renewables, storage, and loads to the grid. Heron Power’s leadership team has designed and shipped gigawatts of power conversion products over the past decade. Job Overview
Heron is building the software experience that makes advanced power hardware fast to deploy, simple to operate, and easy to service—at scale. The Software Product Manager lead will own customer discovery and the end-to-end software roadmap that delivers on Heron’s customer commitments across three core applications: Solar, BESS, and Hyperscale AI Data Centers, spanning the full Heron Link lifecycle: commissioning → operations → service.
You’ll be the connective tissue between Commercial, Forward Deployed Engineering, and Field Service and our firmware/software engineering teams—creating a tight learning loop from real deployments to product decisions. You will lead requirements from first principles: identify the highest-leverage customer problems, translate them into clear PRDs and measurable outcomes, make sharp tradeoffs, and drive launches that work reliably in the field. You’ll take early pilots in solar, storage, and data centers and turn them into a scalable, repeatable product platform; one that can graduate through compliance and hardened deployments (UL/IEEE/IEC, cybersecurity, SCADA) to gigawatt level impact. You’ll also lead the service tooling strategy for Heron Care, defining the software features needed to deliver scalable long-term service outcomes.
How You Will Contribute
Own customer discovery + PRDs: turn field/customer input into crisp PRDs with clear why, success metrics, and rollout plan.
Drive the roadmap across Solar, BESS, and Hyperscale Data Centers: prioritize, sequence, and communicate software requirements across commissioning → operations → service.
Be the bridge between Commercial/FDE/Field Service and Engineering: translate commercial commitments into buildable specs; ensure pilots transition cleanly into scalable deployments.
Define Heron Care software tooling: roadmap service features for monitoring, diagnostics, triage, and reporting to enable long-term service delivery at scale.
Ship with high velocity and low process tax: run lightweight planning/launch rituals that increase clarity and execution without slowing the team.

Must Have Requirements
6+ years in product management (or closely related software/systems/technical support role) with ownership of shipped products experiences.
Strong ability to turn ambiguity into clarity: sharp prioritization, excellent PRDs, and clear tradeoffs.
Proven cross-functional leadership bridging customer-facing teams and engineering to deliver on commitments.
Comfort in technical, infrastructure-adjacent domains (commissioning, reliability, telemetry/observability, integrations).
Working fluency with industrial integration concepts and common protocols (e.g., IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, OPC UA, MQTT).
Startup mindset: high ownership, fast iteration, and strong written communication.
Nice to Haves
Experience building software for power electronics, renewables, energy storage, EVs or data-center power infrastructure.
Experience with commissioning tooling, configuration management, fleet management, telemetry/observability, and remote diagnostics.
Familiarity with OT cybersecurity expectations and best practices for critical infrastructure environments.

Heron Power provides competitive compensation (salary and equity) and benefits. The salary for this role ranges from $150,000 to $220,000 per year.
