Responsibilities
1) Own Story-Level Requirements and Sprint ReadinessWrite, refine, and maintain high-quality user stories with clear acceptance criteriaEnsure backlog items are well-formed, testable, and unambiguous for Engineering and QALead backlog refinement to ensure stories are:o correctly scopedo dependency-awareo sized appropriatelyo aligned to sprint objectivesEnsure sprint planning is efficient by bringing a ready backlog with clear tradeoffs and sequencing options2) Drive Execution Clarity During Product DeliveryAct as the day-to-day decision partner for Engineering during sprint executionResolve requirement questions quickly and prevent delivery stallsMake sprint-level scope tradeoffs (within agreed goals) to maintain flow and delivery momentumCollaborate with QA to ensure expected behavior is verifiable and aligned to regulated quality expectations3) Partner with Platform TPM + Domain PMs (MSAT)Work closely with Platform/Technical Product Management to understand platform intent, constraints, and NFRsPartner with Domain Director and Domain PM(s) for MSAT to ensure stories reflect real workflow needs and outcomesEnsure platform delivery enables domain adoption without introducing inconsistent patterns across suites4) Ensure GxP-Grade Product Quality and ReadinessEnsure stories reflect the realities of regulated customers, including:· Auditability and traceability· e-signature expectations (where applicable)· Data integrity and compliance alignment· Secure, permissioned behavior and controlled workflowsDefine acceptance criteria that supports inspection-ready behaviors and reduces downstream validation risk5) Backlog Health, Hygiene, and Operational VisibilityMaintain backlog health: clear priorities, organized structure, reduced noise, and current statusTrack readiness metrics (example: % of backlog in “Ready” state, carryover rate, churn rate)Surface risks early (dependency gaps, unclear requirements, scope creep, conflicting stakeholder input)Communicate status, risks, and decision points clearly to Product and Engineering stakeholders6) Support Continuous Improvement of Delivery PracticesIdentify recurring execution issues (ambiguity patterns, refinement gaps, testability issues) and propose improvementsStrengthen team habits around:o Definition of Readyo Definition of Done alignmento consistent story structure and qualityContribute to better system-level outcomes: improved predictability, reduced rework, and faster cycle time
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience2+ years' experience as a Product Owner (not currently in a BA role) delivering software in an Agile environmentDemonstrated experience owning:o story qualityo backlog readinesso sprint execution supportStrong communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholdersProven ability to prioritize, manage ambiguity, and deliver in fast-moving environmentsExperience using Agile tooling such as:o Jira and Confluenceo Microsoft 365 (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint)o Miro (or similar)
