Senior Project Accountant
(Cost-Plus / GNP – Mission Critical & Hyperscale Data Center Projects)

Summary / Objective
The Senior Project Accountant provides financial leadership and oversight for multiple large, complex mission-critical data center construction projects operating under Cost-Plus / GNP contract structures. This role owns high-risk, high-dollar project financials, ensures disciplined cost control and forecasting, leads compliant owner billing, and serves as a key financial partner to Project Executives, Operations leadership, and Finance.
In addition to project ownership, the Senior Project Accountant plays a critical role in mentoring Project Accountants, strengthening project accounting controls, and helping Compu Dynamics scale repeatable financial practices to support continued growth in hyperscale and AI/HPC markets.

Portfolio-Level Project Accounting Leadership
- Provide accounting leadership for multiple large-scale Cost-Plus / GNP data center construction projects
- Own end-to-end project accounting for the company’s most complex and high-risk projects
- Serve as the primary accounting partner to Project Executives, Senior Project Managers, and Operations leadership
- Review and oversee project financial performance across assigned portfolio
Advanced Cost Control, Forecasting & GNP Oversight
- Lead monitoring of budgets, burn rates, forecast-to-complete, and GNP / not-to-exceed ceilings
- Identify financial risks, trends, and exposure across projects and proactively escalate to leadership
- Partner with Project Executives and PMs to enforce disciplined forecasting and cost controls
- Provide financial insight and recommendations to support decision-making
Owner Billing, Revenue & Compliance Oversight
- Lead and review cost-plus owner billings for accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness
- Ensure billing practices align with contract requirements and company policies
- Oversee retainage, reimbursables, and contract-specific billing provisions
- Support owner audits, cost reviews, and external audit requests
Monthly Close, Reporting & Financial Integrity
- Oversee monthly close activities for assigned projects, including WIP schedules and reconciliations
- Review project financial reports, variance analyses, and forecasts
- Ensure financial data integrity across ERP and project management systems
- Support revenue recognition and financial reporting accuracy
Systems, Controls & Process Leadership
- Serve as a subject matter expert for construction ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint Vista, Sage 300/Intacct or similar)
- Help define and improve project accounting processes, controls, and best practices
- Support standardization of cost-plus and GNP accounting procedures across the organization
- Partner with Accounting leadership to scale systems and controls as project volume increases
Team Development & Mentorship
- Mentor and support Project Accountants and Project Accounting Specialists
- Provide guidance on complex accounting issues, cost-plus billing, and GNP management
- Support onboarding and development of new project accounting team members
- Contribute to building a strong project accounting bench for future growth
Supervisory Responsibility
- Provides functional leadership and mentorship to Project Accountants and Specialists
- May serve as a lead or reviewer but does not require direct people management initially
Required Qualifications
- 8–12+ years of construction project accounting experience
- Extensive experience managing Cost-Plus and GNP / Not-to-Exceed contracts
- Proven experience supporting large-scale construction projects ($100M+ required; $200M+ preferred)
- Advanced knowledge of job cost accounting, WIP schedules, revenue recognition, and owner billing
- Expert-level experience with construction ERP systems (e.g., Viewpoint Vista, Sage 300/Intacct, or similar)
- Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
- Ability to communicate complex financial issues to Operations and executive leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Mission-critical or data center construction experience strongly preferred
- Experience supporting hyperscale, AI/HPC, or large EPC-style projects
- Prior experience supporting owner audits and cost compliance reviews
- Experience helping scale accounting processes in high-growth environments
