This role serves as a project manager for capital and expense projects of all sizes using the AmSty Project Delivery Work Process. This position also provides technical support to the Production and Maintenance Departments. The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Environmental, and Health and Safety teams to develop and execute projects for the St James facility.
Primary Responsibilities
Develops and implements projects which improve the profitability, operability, reliability, safety, and environmental performance of the St. James Plant in accordance with Business Plan and Plant Specific objectivesPlans and leads the efforts of the project team through the development and execution of projectsDevelops the scope of projects, evaluating options, and obtains management approvalObtains funding for the projectsOpens, manages, and closes projects in SAP and periodically reports status to managementReports progress and forecasting costs on a regular basisPrepares bid specifications, evaluates bids, and selects engineering and construction contractors Monitors/manages the design and construction of projects to ensure that they are engineered and built according to key project plans and company standardsMonitors/controls the cost and timing of projects to keep expenditures and schedules within the limits authorized by managementManages the start-up of projects and project closure activities in a safe and timely manner so that project benefits can be fully realizedProvides turnaround support, troubleshooting, and engineering analysisPerforms other duties as assigned or needed
Job Requirements
3+ years' experience in a chemical processing or refinery environmentStrong commitment to personal safetyExcellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with an exceptionally broad array of people having diverse backgrounds encountered during the life of a projectBroad generalized knowledge of chemical, civil, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control engineering Broad generalized knowledge of industry design codes, standards, and practicesBroad generalized knowledge of personnel safety, process safety, and environmental principles/regulationsProject management and administrative skills necessary to plan, organize, coordinate, and control the development and execution of a project – including cost and schedule controlAbility to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Excellent technical and problem-solving skills to identify alternatives to challenges presented and select the most appropriate solution with minimal guidance or precedenceMust have a valid TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card) or be able to secure one within 30 days.
Preferences
Experience with Instrumentation and Electrical type projects is preferredBachelor’s degree in engineering is preferredKnowledge of a structured project management or project development and execution process a plus
Relocation is not available with this position.
