The Project Manager is responsible for the oversight of the planning of the execution of projects, including overseeing operational execution and delivery/closing of various projects within defined budget, quality, and time constraints and in a contractual and legal framework. This is a pivotal role involving the coordination of stakeholders, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with company standards and client-specific requirements, together all in a contractual and legal framework. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, risk management, effective communication and strategic decision-making to drive successful project outcomes.


Key Responsibilities


Project Planning and Customer Satisfaction

  • Develop comprehensive project plans outlining scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines, including risk management plans to mitigate potential project disruption.
  • Identify and allocate resources (human and material), required for project execution.
  • Identify and resolve barriers to successful project completion, focusing on customer requirements.
  • Proactively communicate with customers, provide flexible and helpful service, and address feedback effectively.
  • Deliver projects on time, meeting customer specifications, and adhering to designed quality standards.


Financial Management:

  • Oversee and track project expenditures (including purchasing, material costs etc), against budget.
  • Implement cost-control measures when necessary and analyse job completion efficiency to maximize profit margins.
  • Aim to increase project profitability by identifying and executing project variations effectively from quotation to implementation stages.
  • Complete required reports, analyse project costs, and maintain Works in Progress (WIP) records.
  • Ensure realistic and timely billing practices according to projected payment terms.


Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders (internal teams, clients, engineers, consultants etc), cultivating relationships, fostering strong communication channels, providing regular project updates, addressing concerns and managing expectations.
  • Effectively coordinate and manage the design input for project execution.
  • Liaise with the resource manager to provide direction to project teams, coordinate with stakeholders, and develop schedules and deliverables to ensure that plans are executed efficiently and effectively.
  • Identify, liaise, and finalize deals with subcontractors as needed.
  • Liaise and manage handing over procedures from / to other internal departments.


Quality Assurance and Compliance:

  • Monitor project progress, identifying and resolving issues to ensure adherence to timelines and quality standards.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, design standards. Familiarise and adopt to any client specific SOPs.
  • Oversee project activities, ensuring appropriate methods are employed and company standards (ISO, LPCB) are implemented.
  • Maintain updated records, sort documents, respond promptly to client enquiries, and conduct regular follow-ups.
  • Promote and maintain awareness of health and safety; respond to concerns and support on-site personnel in line with local legislation.

Required Qualifications & Experience


  • Degree Qualified (within Mechanical Engineering) or equivalent.
  • Holder of Maltese engineering warrant or working towards the warrant.
  • Previous Project Management, Fire Safety Security Management, or a related field with some exposure in a project management role or minimum of 3-4 years work experience in a project management role, demonstrating successful completion of projects.
  • Valid Maltese driving license
