About Etched
Etched is building the world’s first AI inference system purpose-built for transformers - delivering over 10x higher performance and dramatically lower cost and latency than a B200. With Etched ASICs, you can build products that would be impossible with GPUs, like real-time video generation models and extremely deep & parallel chain-of-thought reasoning agents. Backed by hundreds of millions from top-tier investors and staffed by leading engineers, Etched is redefining the infrastructure layer for the fastest growing industry in history.
Job Summary
Etched is hiring a Quality Engineer based in Taiwan to ensure product quality and compliance at our contract manufacturing partners. You will be the on-the-ground owner for driving quality systems, managing supplier quality performance, and ensuring robust inspection, audit, and test processes across the build lifecycle.
This role will partner closely with Etched’s Manufacturing Operations, Test, and Supply Chain teams to enforce quality standards, resolve issues, and ensure our systems consistently meet spec at every production milestone. It is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in high-volume manufacturing environments and is passionate about building scalable, reliable quality processes.
Key Responsibilities
Own quality performance at our L6–L10 contract manufacturing sites in Taiwan, spanning substrates, PCBAs, system integration, and test.
Define and enforce inspection criteria, incoming/outgoing quality control (IQC/OQC), and in-line process quality checkpoints.
Lead failure analysis and root-cause investigations on yield or reliability issues; drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with CMs and suppliers.
Partner with Etched Test Engineering to ensure proper test coverage, reliability testing, and data collection at L6–L10.
Manage supplier quality reviews, audits, and certifications to Etched standards.
Track and report on quality metrics (yield, defect rates, escapes, DPPM) with clear escalation and recovery plans.
Support NPI-to-MP transition by ensuring readiness of quality systems, documentation, and operator training.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives across defect prevention, line quality, and supplier capability building.
You may be a good fit if you have
10+ years of experience in quality engineering, supplier quality, or manufacturing quality roles in semiconductors, servers, or complex electromechanical systems.
Proven experience managing quality at Tier 1 CMs or ODMs in Taiwan.
Strong knowledge of quality systems (FMEA, SPC, 8D, ISO/AS standards) and process control methodologies.
Familiarity with assembly and test flows (substrates, package, PCBA, system-level integration).
Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin and English with excellent communication skills.
Hands-on problem solver with strong data analysis and root-cause investigation skills.
Strong candidates may also have experience with (Nice-to-have qualifications)
Experience supporting AI ASIC or HBM server builds.
Exposure to reliability engineering (burn-in, environmental, stress tests).
Familiarity with test data systems and quality dashboards.
Prior startup or NPI ramp-up experience with fast-moving teams.
Benefits

Comprehensive insurance coverage and other top-of-market benefits
How we’re different
Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.
We are a fully in-person team in San Jose and Taipei, and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.
